    1/4 mile time

I know there are a million posts for this, but just a simple answer would be nice.

I have a 01 S4 6 speed with chipped ecu that I have set to boost to 15psi with mbc and 710n diverter valves.

Still have Cats and original exhaust and origininal turbo's, original clutch. Not sure of elevation, it will be in Wisconsin so for what thats worth.

I'm planning on going to the strip in Sept and they require drivers to wear a helmet if the car is faster then 14 seconds. I'm pretty sure it will go faster then that with a chip, but just thought I'd ask on here.

Yes yes I realize if I'm a sucky driver I wont break 14's but is it possible with my car's setup?

This will be my first time to the track, I'm excited to go, but a little nervous too because I dont want anything to break - turbo's, clutch are what I'm mainly worried about. I dont plan on "launching" it too hard, but I'm sure once I'm there I'll be too tempted and will do it anyway, hopefully not too hard though.

Plus I dont want to make this a frequent thing to do either because I know its hard on the car. I have some buddies going and they invited me so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I'm actually hoping to gut my pre cats before I go, but we'll see if I can find the time to do it before we go in Sept.

    Really,

Thats hard to believe. I really doubt I'll get mid 12's with my setup and my driving abilities but regardless, I need to find a helmet just to make sure they dont kick me off the track.

    Re: 1/4 mile time

My car (while with the previous owner) ran a 13.3 with a chip and exhaust, and it was in Wisconsin. But it's a silver car, and we all know that's good for 1/2 a second easily.

Just get a helmet. You could easily see 13's in September up there. Hell, it could be nice and chilly by then. Maybe you'll even need a fleece jacket.

Like Shawn said.. Their is WAY to many variables to say what your going to run.

You have Elevation, humidity, Tempature, weather, track prep, the track, where it is..

Driver skill, Car weight, How strong the motor is, tires/grip.

The reason you dont get short answer's to a question like this, Is because their is no short answer...

Yes I understand that. Thanks for the input though.

I mainly wanted to know if I needed to bring a helmet or not because I'm required if you run under 14 sec's

I should be able to run 13's (hopefully) so I'm just going to find one somewhere and bring it because I'll probably be required to anyway.

Some tracks are little more lax with the helmet rules. The track I go to is pretty lax. I've been running mid-high 13s (I'm still learning to launch, etc) and so have other people we've gone with and no one has said anything to us. If you have one then bring it. If you don't then just go and run until they tell you to get a helmet.

I only have a chip (*Revo 93) on my S4 Tip... and the only time that i go to the strip, i did 14.5

With a manual transmission you should do much better!

I ran 14.6 at sea level on a hot ass day, but my car is tip.

not really much skill involved in drag racing, just reaction time.

    Re: 1/4 mile time

Most tracks let you rent helmets btw...

Good driver.. low 13's, decent... mid 13, anything else.. high 13's and up.. but your should just kick yourself in the nutts at this point and hang up drag racing your s4

I ran my chipped S4 at GLD back in 2003. It turned a 13.1@105.
    Slow, stock, smurfy blue car.

Relax, I just troll this place for fun.

    Re: 1/4 mile time

You should do fine at GLD. I ran a 13.4@104mph with just a GIAC X Chip and a slipping clutch. If you plan on going next month, let me know and I'll roll down with you.
