B6 S4 Or B5 S4?

Currently I have a 02 b6 a4 1.8T quattro. I'm looking to get an S4. First thought maybe m3 but I really like s4. So now the dilema is 2.7 Twin Turbo or 4.2 V8. But reliability is also a factor. And so is Fun. Can ne1 help with the comparison.??? Why I should pick either.

OMG...Here it comes, do a search, you will find a million topics that match this one. If you want reliability get the B6. A couple bolt ons and you have a mean sounding classy car that is pretty quick. Also the B6 is much nicer inside and out IMO. If you want pure speed, go for the B5 and start your modding, but you better have a back-up vehicle and a thick wallet.

In my personal opinion I would get a 04/05 B6 S4... I wouldn't buy the B5 S4as my daily driver... Come on, the car has a lot of years on him already, there are 3 more generations in front of him, it's getting old. 3-4 years ago would be another story.

Depends what your plans are with modding. If you have even a slight thought of doing a descent amount of modding then hands down the B5 S4. If you may just add an exhaust and some nice wheels then get a B6.

if you want a car to make stooopid fast but not be too reliable and has aged styling then get a b5 s4, if you want a quick car tht you can mod up a lil bit and be extremely dependable nd nice new styling.. get b6 s4.. i would say go with the b6 s4... most depenedable engines and they sound mean with a nice exhuast

Thanx guys. I was thinking b6 s4 since i have the b6 a4 and the styling inside alone is alot better. Yeah this will be a daily driver not a stupid fast car. Stupid fast is left to 2 wheels for me. Until i have deep wallet.

I will throw a curve ball at you. I went from e36 M3 to e46 M3 to B6 S4 to a B7 A4 to current B6 A4 USP avant (b/c I wanted to tune a sleeper wagon).
I would mod a B7 2.0 liter A4 and this is why. Note: I am not trying to upset anyone, I love Audi's and this is my feedback.
B6 S4 is an overweight slow pig with no cheap way to make it any quicker plus MPG suck. e46 M3 is a great buy but most tuned A4 turbos can run with them, still a great buy for the money. My old B7 real took well to APR Stage II, testpipe and exhaust. It was quick plus very reliable. I was dying to get a B5 S4 avant but agree with many postings here, it is dated and can get expensive. My dream would be to have the B5 S4 motor in my B6 USP Avant. I am thinking of going used 335i in 2 years when the tuners figure out the motor......
You really can't go wrong, best of luck in your decision!

I've had them both bone stock and I would take my 4.2 any day of the week and twice on Saturday.

Test drive and see which one you like best. I will say the B5 S4 looks super dated whenever I see them on the road. E46 M3 is a great value but doesn't compare to the new M3. Idn thats a tough decision!

Get a turbo if you plan to do upgrades. Get the v6 if you want more power straight out of the box. Stay with b6 for resale value if nothing else.

Audi for looks and quattro. BMW for speed and rwd.

I agree with you. 2.0 is a much better platform to start with.
If all the 1.8 guys think the 335 is quick now, I'm with this guy. What till they figure it out in another year or so
