my moms 2007 s4, less than 40k miles on it all of a sudden wont start, we have never had problems with it before and its always been on time to services and is 200 miles from its next one, but now when i try to start it it just turns over but doesnt engage, im tempted to think its a type of security feature that doesnt allow it to start if something happened but not sure because this would be the first time for it, if anyone has any idea of what to do please feel free to say so, thanks in advance

Should be under warranty. Call the dealer.

Alright, it's not the starter it's the alarm. Get out of the car and lock it with your key fob. then unlock it, again with the key fob. Get in the car and start it up. It should work.

If this doesn't work, then my apologies, but it's not the starter becasue if it was, it wouldn't crank at all.

    Re: Starter failed?

By turns over do you mean the engine is turning over, or is the starter just turning and not the engine ? If the motor is turning its not the starter , you have a problem with your ignition system . If the starter just spins the windings are fine but the starter gear is not engaging the flywheel because the bendex solenoid is NFG. It's an 07 get it to the dealer and tell them to fix it .
