The problem is the dealerships, and the warrenty!
Dealerships change your oil @ 10,000 miles, and will hold you too that mark for any and all warrenty claims for sludge!
Just try to get a dealership to change your oil early, and see what they tell you....
I've read posts from people who had the dealerships change their oil every 10,000, then suffer oil sludge, and the dealerships didnt honor the warrenty!
I've read post of dealerships not changing the oil like they were suppose too!
If you change you own oil, you need to keep the reciepts!
Especially if you think you might be going after an oil-sludge claim later on down the road.
You need to be able to "prove" you changed oil, the oil type, and when it was changed! Same thing goes for the oil filter.
Then come the debate with your local dealership.... Some are more receptive than others....
Bottom line, change your oil between 3000-5000 miles(depending where you live and how you drive) with an oil on the Audi approved list, and
you should never suffer any oil related issue. Unless you bougt your Audi used, and do not know the history of the vehicle. Which you may want to
Auto-Rx the engine, then begin the 3000-5000 mile change interval.
