Re: Are these the right pistons to get?

Those should work and you would need to get some Scat rods with 20mm wrist pins. You wouldn't need to upgrade the pistons if you're still just going with the GTRS. You could do just rods for some insurance if you wanted.

I guess you might as well do it while you're in there.

Re: Are these the right pistons to get?

Romell, unless your pistons are damaged or you are increasing your bore size, there is no real reason to replace them.

If you are looking to strengthen the bottom end of your motor, you can go with Integrated Engineering forged rods and retain the OEM pistons.

The rods can be replaced in your motor without removing it from the car, just make sure you use the correct rod bearings so you do not have to do it twice. The IE rods are designed to work with OEM Audi TT225 rod bearings.

If you are palnning on upgrading the rods, while the head is off the car, I would upgrade the exhaust valves too.

Hey Romell, I'm going to do a GTRS with rods also. I was looking on genuinevwaudiparts.com on this is what I got. And wondering am I missing anything?

    piston rings ( 1 piston) $76 x 4 = $296
    tt rod bearings $18 x 4 = $72
    IE rods w/ 19mm wrist (set) =$380

    total for parts = $748

There is no way the rings for just one piston are $76

I remember someone buying the whole OEM set for about $92

That is about how much they cost for the TT225HP model. I'm not sure how much they cost for the B6 AMB.

I know it sounds expensive for 1 piston, I coudn't find a piston ring set for the 1.8T and for the 3.0L it says: "Includes rings for one piston" = $78. So I assume the $76 in the 1.8T section is for one piston also. Maybe I'm just retarded or something...and the tt rod bearings are $8 for 1/2 a bearing.

Martin, you can find cheaper rings, and I would step up to coated rod bearings

Clint, I asked Eurocode about this and they said for my setup there wasn't any reason to go with the coated bearings. They said the stock bearings will work just fine.

Re: Are these the right pistons to get?

Yeah, dont think its necessary. But hey for $40 it might be a good idea. 034 have piston rings $44 per piston. Your're right Clint I'll look for cheaper places.
