    Re: window problem

I'm not exactly sure which side works right or not.

But I will try to help you out. The problem is probably in the wiring of the drivers door.

I almost gaurantee its a wiring problem in one of the doors, I say the driver door because this is the one that is used most of the time.

The wires get brittle from opening and closing so much and will literally snap in half. So one of the wires probably snapped which messed the system up and prevents the window from working correctly.

I've seen this before on one of my older audi's. its a pain to fix because its hard to get in the corner there by the wires, but with a little effort it can be done.

    Re: window problem

Or it could just be a bad switch on the drivers side.

Im almost positive this exact same problem happened to me. Also when i turn my lights on all the switches on my driver side door lights up except the one that isn't working. If the OP is still around, did you find out the problem?

    any ideas for my problem?

My passenger door has a really hard time when the window is going up. I almost need to give it a push to make sure the window gets closed...motor?

Is it pissible to replace just the switch? Or is it some sort of massive changeout, like a harness or the whole switch panel?

LOL, I hope its not pissible, but to answer your question. I have never took apart the drivers side door control unit and cant say if you could replace the switch. My guess is no, just from thinking about Audi engineering. They would want you to replace the entire part. Plus I dont think dealers just have the knob and switch. The would involve some very precise soldering and etc. I would find a used control and just save the hassle. I would sell you the one from my wrecked car, but I cant get to it right now.

Either way report back at what you figured out.
