35% all around. Picture is a little misleading because there is a black car behind my car.

I like 35% the best, but my front windows are not legal in my state. I think 20% is "dark" if you like that, but 5% is... not only illegal but too dark.

How about both?

Not the best picture considering it is taken with a crappy camera phone but here it is. 35% on the back three, 50% on the front two.

I'd recommend it completely. Classy, but also looks legal.

IMHO 35% is barely tint, keep in mind factory tint on our audis is 70% so that might give you a clue as to how "dark" 50% is lol ;)

I used to have 20% on the five rear windows and 35% on the two in the front, but had it to changed to 35% all around as I didn't like the uneven look.

Besides, 20% on the rear windows can be a pain at night in dark places.

Very much agree! Although, our factory tint is actually 94% but 50% is still VERY light. 50% is mainly what we use to tint windshields, other than that its not really a tint you put on your doors, kind of a waste. 18% here in WA is our most popular percentage, we tint probably 10 cars w/ 18 per 1 car with 35%

Generally... police officers safety is on the line when they cannot see inside the car when they pull people over. That is why they are illegal. Instead of making guns illegal... they had to make the tints illegal.

I have 35% on the rear windows of a black titanium. I really dislike not having the front windows tinted to match so I'm getting my car redone at 50% all around. It'll look like the new X5s and X3s. Still illegal but probably won't draw attention and it's more tasteful IMO.

I agree that police officers lives are on the line with tinted windows but to allow SUV to have tinted windows is crap! anyways, lets not turn this into another thread about safety and tint. just post up your pics to help out his guy!

My USP (winter set-up) had 20% front, 15% rear

Went w/35% all around last two cars cuz didn't wanna deal with the popo's. Didn't want to draw extra attention esp cuz of no front plate.

I have 35% all around and I live in Virginia and cops do not give a shit. They have pulled up next to me, stared at me and they don't care man. I was kind of paranoid cause it is SOO dark, I also have the Luminar which is partially reflective so on cloudy days its like 25% and still no issues.

I have 50%/35% on my car and if I could re-do it I would of went with 35% all around. I would ideally go for a darker tint, but here its illegal to go darker then what I already have and drawing unwanted attention is not the best thing to do when driving around late night. Just to add to what everyone else already said, the type of tint is also important. Generally, you have dyed tint at the low end of the spectrum, then you get metallic tint, then at the high end you get ceramic tint which is the best and most expensive.

Just an FYI ceramic tint is a complete waste of money, metallic tint has done me well and will last for eternity. Also the myth about how metallic tint interferes with radio signals, etc. is just that, a myth, only copper can interfere with radio signals and there is no copper in metallic tint.

Just keep that in mind when they try to rip you off and sell you the ceramic tint...

That's not the reason tints are illegal or regulated; if it were, then that means: all trucks with rear caps/campers are illegal, all semis are illegal, cargo vans are illegal, etc.

If one researches the history of law(s) regarding this, the intention for making tints that are too dark illegal is because tinting reduces outward visibility from the driver's perspective which makes that tinted-windowed-driver a hazard to others on the road, especially pedestrians. Rather than have to apply any intellectual thought to a police officer's job or to a judge's decision, some states outlaw tinting completely to make it easier on their judicial system.

OT: FWIW, the areas with the strictest gun laws end up with the highest crime rates and highest gun-crime rates compared to areas with less restriction.

35% is classy and clean for an a4. 20% and lower looks ghetto in my opinion. And please do the same percentage all around. Why chop up the look with different shades? What is the point?

Because it still has the tinted look while appearing to be legal in states where they have the idiotic tint laws. I don't want a $85 ticket.

Plus I love the look.
