    ecode bi-xenon citylight problem

while i have my headlights out waiting for a d1s replacement bulb, i figured i would look into my other lighting delimma. bear with me.

Recently my drivers side citylight bulb has decided to rarely work for some reason. Every time i turn the car on, i get the light out deal on the DIS, and every so often it goes away after time. I checked the bulbs placement in the socket and it is snug in there, the wiring has a little bit of play, but it is getting a full connection. The other side (which works fine) has the same amount of play and sits in the socket the same.
    1) is there anything i should look for to fix this issue, certain places to look along the wiring, tightening the socket base against the bulb with pliers, etc?

    2) does anyone know if the b7 citylight socket that fits 194 bulbs is the same size.shape as the b6 citylight one for the h6w bulb? I can't remember exactly from my b7. If it is, i think im gonna go with that plug n play led citylight kit.

thanks in advance. this is officially annoying.

B7s use a wedge based citylight bulb so you can't interchange

    no kidding.
i am asking if the brown/tan bulb socket holder is the same size/shape, not the bulb inside. IIRC they are identicle, but i need someone who knows 100% before i go and try to get some.

did you try unplugging the headlight connector, blowing off/cleaning the pins, and reconnecting it?

    Re: ecode bi-xenon citylight problem

While replacing my passenger side citylight bulb, I accidently cracked the socket in half!

Does anyone know where I can find a citylight socket for B6 ecode bi-xenon?

    Re: ecode bi-xenon citylight problem

Are you running LED tails? Reason I asked is that for a while, I used LED replacement bulbs for tail lights (not the LED tails). Eventually, I noticed that the passenger citylight bulb would go out after only a few weeks. I couldn't see anything wrong with the citylight bulb, socket, wires, or other connections in the ecode housing. After pulling out the LED bulbs from the tail lights, the citylight problem went away.

I think the issue was a load imbalance. The built-in resistors of the LED bulbs weren't working correctly (and did on occasion throw a "bulb out" warning). I now have the LED tails (not just bulbs) with the proper resistors added, and I don't have any problems with any lights front or rear.

My guess may be wrong, but that's how it appears to me what happened and might help you out.
