Looking into getting a track specific car and want something cheap, easy to work on and preferably European. And hopefully rear wheel drive... Any ideas?

im thinking e30 or e36 looks good. my neighbor across the street has the exact e36 pictured above with 30k miles and its been sitting there since they moved here and it hasnt been started or moved. it pains me to see it there, and he says he doesnt wanna sell it. i think im gonna steal it, then paint it a different color and ill have my track car. he may notice though... lol

LOL, that's funny. What if you stole it and a week later he sees you driving around with a black e36 m3? Think he would come over and accuse you? I'd be like, "Nope, my uncle in Alaska gave it to me".

E36 M3, or even an E46, theyre coming down in price. You can snag one for very low 20s.

    Benz 190E

It could be made into a pretty sweet car. comparable to the e30/e36 4 doors. i dont think it has 50/50 dist. though.

I'd go with a Miata, not euro but it's still a nice track car.

I'd offer your neighbor a decent amount for his car, and buy that... i'd suck a nut for a e36 m3

RB25 is a rear drive motor from a Skyline GTS-T...

The RB26 is the all wheel drive motor from the GT-R's.

    My vote is the E30.

There is so much available for that car, the cost is cheap, etc...

The 944 is another good call, but I just HATE the look of them.

    It's a coin flip between the E30 and E36. I'd lean towards the E36.

E36 M3. An awesome all arounder that can be had for some very reasonable coin, and made into a track car quite easily. Gut that sucka ! And add some R-compound rubber.

im gonna try and get my dad to talk to the neighbor and hopefully we can get somewhere with that... also what do you guys think is a reasonable price for an e36, theres one sitting in a car lot for like 12000 thats supposedly dinan. and theres some pretty neat bmw 2002's in there

If you ever consider fwd buy a 80's rabbit. Lighter than anything out there, very easy to work on, and are very cheap! Perfect combo for a cheap fun/fast track car. Thats what my boss races and he dominates like barry bonds on steroids.

if you get an E30 your going to have to do alot of work on the supension to make it any good on a track.

skip that old Jalopy and go for a E36 the M3, but even if you don't have the money for a M3, you will be much better off with a 325 or 328 than any E30.

now, watch all the E30 guys here get all offended because i called called a spade a spade.

e30's are absolute rubbish! The only e30 that i would consider decent is the REAL m3, and none of that super-eta or wanna be shit, however with the asking prices for the e30 m3's I'd like to offer my professional opinion that lack of market demand does not create scarcity. the cheaper better e36 FTW.

To all the other suggestions here, Sweet drifts? Open Diffs, AWD, don't think so!
