    Ur S AAN into a b5

I do not know if this is the best place to start, but i have been racking my brain about it for a while and its just got to be done. for me at least. i already have the S6, and i love it, don't get me wrong, but it needs so much body work that i think i can get a b5 a4 with a bad motor for less than it would cost to do the body work on the S. i had 2 a4's before as well. i loved them both but i always wanted more power, so when the opportunity came to get a s6, i just couldn't pass it up. and i just keep going back to thinking about the a4 that a Colorado Audi tunning company used for its hill climbs had the exact same set up in it, the AAN in a B5. ever since i saw it, i have wanted to do it. other than finding the shell, what do you think the best steps to starting everything would be. who should i seek about possible help, and information? i know motorgeek, just4rings, off the top of my head are possible starts. thanks in advance....

it can be done but with a TON of fab work and money!! you could buy a b5 s4 which probably suit your needs (good body and they already have the power). prices on those over the recent years DROPPED! i thought about buying one (being a previous b5 a4 owner) but then i got thinking of everyone has one and there isnt room to work on in the engine bay. then i looked at the other alternitive (sp?) a UrS car. there isnt many of them around, plently of room in the engine bay, imo just the right size overall, plenty of power in stock form, great looks, that is why i now own a very clean 93 UrS4.

    Re: Ur S AAN into a b5

I would love to buy a b5 s4 but i could never get enough from my s6 to cover the cost all in one payment. Where as if I get a cheep b5, and already have everything from the s6, then im a good step in the right direction. it would just come down to finding a way to mount the motor, and figure the drive train out. I know its not that easy of course, and understand that there will be a tone of work to go into moving things, rewiring, and so on. Also its not just to have a b5 with power, its to do something that really only 1-3 people have done. to combine my favorite parts of the Audi's that i have owned, and to just live a small dream.

imo the time and money you spend on buying a b5 a4 and then swapping the I5 20vt (from your UrS6) motor into it would cost more then going the other route as i mentioned above.

whats wrong with your UrS6 to take out the motor and install it into a b5?

or the cheaper alternitive (sp?) is to fix up the UrS6 you have and be happy with the car.

<bangs head> put the motor in a 4kq or a 90q! I know there are still some in that area as they were there when I left a little over a year ago. Less weight with the B2 or B3, plus you get a better quattro system. BTW, you should be able to find a nice body B2/B3 for around 1k$. Oh yeah, theres a ton of write ups on these builds too!!

    Re: Ur S AAN into a b5

Its not that i don't like the b2, or b3. its just I have wanted the AAN in a b5 for years now. and as for why my cars not just going to get fixed, is the whole thing needs painted, thats a couple thousand right there to do it right. then the steering rack and possibly most if the front end suspension needs replaced. i know those are not as bad but it adds up, every time i talk to some1 about the paint, they say they can hook me up, then it never happens. so either i murder it out, or do it myself which then it will be terrible because i don't have the equipment. believe me, if i could have a decent paint job for a reasonable price, i would do the suspension in a second and just beef up the motor.

I think it's a badass idea and VTB if you puss out on it! Though, IMO, B6 FTW.

Keep this thread going with your developments, as it'll prove to be useful for me when I (eventually) swap a 2871R'd AAN into my CQ.

    VTB?

well i will def do it if i can find a b5 with either no motor or just a blown one for the right price. even if its missing other parts it would still be worth it as long as the body and frame are in good shape.

It was meant as a joke... I suppose 'vote to ban' was a tad harsh! But really it's a heavy idea, love to see it pull together.

    Re: Ur S AAN into a b5

The I5 20V turbo will bolt up to a B5 Q manual without any modifications.

    You'll need to use a 200q 3B clutch and flywheel set-up.

You'll need to fabricat mounts for the engine itself, but shouldn't be an issue.

The extra length though of the I5 may be an issue - at the most, you'll have to lose aircon, if the B5 you buy has it fitted, your rad will have to move right forward, and for sure, you'll need to run hood pins, as you'll have to cut out the centre on the front clip, to accommodate the I5.

That of course, means losing the original hood catch.

Still, it'll be a fun project - I5 20V turbo is a well-proven motor, and the uneven "warbling" soundtrack with the right exhaust set-up will sound awesome.

    Re: Ur S AAN into a b5

i have seen a few guys running the b5 s4 tranny in there urs4/6 so i am thinking that would be a better tranny to toss in with it. ill get the 6th gear(not that thats a big deal) but that should work with the b5 body/frame better as well. now the hard part is finding a b5 thats just got a blown motor and or is just dirt cheap for one reason or another.

    Re: Ur S AAN into a b5

OBDII will be a issue, most states use this to check emissions/fault codes. Some guys with Canadian 97 urS6's have had issues because everything after 95 has to have OBDII (97's have OBDI). Notice you can get a 1995.5 urS6 but not a 96? That was the quick get around IIRC.
