    MPG on a RS4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I am looking into trading in my 3.0 A4 for possibly an RS4, but would like to know first hand from the people that drive them what there MPG is...

I know that when you buy a car like this, it isn't for the MPG savings, its for the status of owning a high performance machine like this, and owing a bit of history, blah blah blah...

    Thanks!

    Re: MPG on a RS4

Ok so im hearing anywhere between 12-19mpg... I am debating on buying an RS4 or a Hummer H2 (because there sooo cheap right now) and trading the A4 in.... Looks like I am going to have to do some serious thinking now since they both get about the same MPG....

Once broken in, you'll get about 14 city, and around 18 highway. Add a Milltek exhaust and your milage will increase by 1 mpg. Best I've gotten on a drive is about 22mpg-steady 70mph cruise for about 80 miles or so. No high speed bursts.

Umm dude, i dont care if they are giving away H2's or H3's why would you want or need one over an rs4? I am asking a simple question; i know, you said they are cheap these days but dear lord are they FUGLY. again, that is MY personal opinion and just like my a hole, everyone has one :).

nah what you NEED to do is seriously think about how you brought up a ummer 2 and an RS4 in th same sentance and perhaps sit in a corner for a while. and it isnt your opinion that the h2 isugly btw. it is a fact. also its advertised gas consumption is better than its actual.

i have an s4 and its advertised mpg is 15/21, which i believe is one mpg better than the rs4. i probably see about 15 though in average consumption.

    Re: MPG on a RS4

^^WTF?? And RS4's are cheap??? The lowest used one i found was a 2007 ~53k w/ 20k miles. I dont think that is cheap.... If anything S4 prices are dropping hard.

Also, why in the hell a H2?? You realize after you buy it, depreciation is still going to fall like a rock. Think about resale.

I'm pretty sure they're equal, unless you get an auto s4 which then gives the s4 an extremely slight edge.

    I could be wrong though

Due to FSI The RS4 is a bit better on gas than an S4 V8.

Did you just compare an RS4 to an H2. The only thing they have in common is that they are both forms of transportation. Thats like saying should i have a Bacon Cheeseburger or a Watermelon?

    Watermelon=H2 Big and Ugly
Bacon Cheeseburger=RS4 A little heavy but juicy and has a great upper range

I drive 99% in Orlando so to be honest I get about 7-12 mpg average. But I also drive like an idiot. I drove 1000 miles last month on I95 though and got 22 mpg average. cruise set at 100 most of the time.

Haha wow.. Maybe I should have kept this debate (RS4 vs. H2) in the house... lol It looks like 348734835 for the RS4 and 1 for the H2...

From what you guys have been telling me, I think I will look into the S4 a bit.. Any BIG difference in the S4 from the RS4? Besides the obvious looks and horsepower

I don't understand how hard you guys are driving your cars... I am somewhat aggressive, but not crazy, and I have never gotten less than 280 miles on a tank.

I average something like 16-18 city, and around 24 highway. According to the computer (which is not 100% accurate) my lifetime average is 19.5 mpg. Granted I live in a decently rural area, but it's not like you can drive for more than a few miles without stopping.

All I can say is we have 6 gears, use more of them!

For me to get 7mpg from the RS4 i would just do 0-40mph all day in first gear. You must drive like a real cock (m3 driver) to get that kind of mileage.

    Re: MPG on a RS4

Well 100 on cruise control on I95 isn't really that dangerous. I obviously slowed down when there was traffic. And 7mpg is easy when you spend the entire ride at stop lights. I also drive in S most of the time just because I enjoy the responsiveness. And I am offended by the M3 comparison haha.
