B5 5speed transmission fit in a B6?

Hey guys,

Wondering if a 01A Transmission from lets say a 2000 A4 1.8T or 2.8L Quattro fit in a 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro?

My first gear is ticking indicating that the main shaft gear is worn.

and my 3rd gear synchro has just went to heaven.

Help would be appreciated.

Yes, but you have to swap the axle flanges and tail section, neither are a big deal to do.

Your talking about on the transmission itself right? front wheel axle flanges, probably different offset?

and tail section, different lenght/offset, right?

Drive shaft is same length for 01A and 01E?

Shifter Linkages the same?

Pictures would be nice.

The flanges are different B5's have open axle and the B6's are sealed, the tailshaft for the B6 has a mount on it. Everything else is the same. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201359
