$2500 for NAV, better be a damn good system...

Has anyone used the new system? Maybe someone who has a 09 a5/s5. Is it worth the money? I know it comes was a backup camera but still. I can buy a tom tom for like 200 bucks.

Just go to a dealer and play around with an A5 nav. Another thing to consider, the B&O stereo (if you order that option) will sound better with the Nav option because the audio signal is processed digitally. Without nav, the B&O loses a little sound quality due to analog conversion.

it cost 2900 to get it on the a3, is ridiculous . However a lot of people now days prefer a built-in one. It does look nicer but it definitely not worth the much. I ordered mine with the NAV package though. If i am willing to pay 40K for a car, I guess I will pay 2500 more to make it looks nicer.

i don't know...some after market ones look good with a clean install and are $1000+ cheaper. I see your point about spending $40,000 on a car and if you break it down over the financing period it doesn't seem like that much.

eh, we all pinch pennies in some way. to each their own.

Personally, I like having GPS on my phone rather than buying a tomtom/garmin GPS... that way, I can have GPS anywhere and even on friends cars when I'm riding with them.

Btw, I use a HTC TYTN II... great GPS on the phone.

Considering that the Nav in the 2008s was $2100, and you're only paying $400 more to have voice control, a color information display and a rear backup camera, I'd go with it!

seeing as how telenav on a phone works better for the most part and is free for me and $10 a month to people that don't work for ATT... no way I'd get it.

    but to each their own...

Apparently enough people have noticed a difference (though it may only be perceptible to the most discriminating audiophiles):

"Second, digital audio transport on MMI/navigation cars. At first this may not sound significant, but buyers selecting the B&O audio option have reported differences between cars that have one of the radios compared to cars with the MMI/navigation. B&O comes with a different amplifier depending on whether or not the car has the MOST data transport. On cars without MMI/navigation, audio from the radio in the front is transmitted analogically (radio is in line-out mode) to the B&O amplifier in the trunk, on cars with MMI/navigation this transportation is done digitally using the MOST bus. Thus MMI/navigation cars are able to offer some additional user-options for the B&O amplifier like some extra surround processing that are not present on cars without MMI/navigation. Some users have also reported inferior sound quality on cars without MMI/navigation, which might be explained by the analogue line-out audio transport instead of going all digital over MOST."

^So I guess they are suggesting that the Digital to Analog conversion in the B&O amp is better than in the MMI unit.

Here is the single biggest diffrence in NAV vs non NAV. When you get the NAV on the A4 it moves the MMI Controls to the center console as oppsed to being on the dash, it makes a HUGE Asthetic Diffrence on the car. YOU CANNOT have the controls on the center console without having the NAV, regardless of the package options.

Oh yes, having the controls in that area is very convenient.

Anyone got pics of a B8 A4 without the Nav option?

Well, cars without Nav don't really have true MMI. They have an MMI-like interface. It's like the B7 RNS-E with it's MMI-like interface.

That's not correct. B8 cars without Nav have an MMI-like interface, not the true MMI.

That does not coincide with the Cars I have and the information from Audi. I can take pictures of the cars if you like, however they will be on the dash, just like the A5 unless nav is purchased on the car.

I have 3 premium Plus cars and 3 Premium cars right here right now and they are all on the dash. It is a sad and unfortunate truth.

I drove the car today (2.0 and 3.2) and I liked them both, but I want to drive the s line before I order one. According to my dealer the s lines will not be avaiable right away, becuase the wheels are on backorder from Audi. Also they informed me that you have to get Nav to have the controls for the MMI in the center console. I can't wait to order mine.

I can't wait to check this out for myself. I will definitely be getting a factory nav down the road when I get a B8. I'm done fucking around with maps and the GPS on my iPhone still doesn't compare to the factory integrated nav, not to mention it makes the interior look 10x more classy.
