    eibach shocks and h&r springs??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i have stock suspension right now and i want to drop it for looks on a budget

eibach shocks are pretty inexpensive at only like $350, so i am considering going with eibach shocks/eibach springs...

but from searching and looking and pics i am thinking eibach springs might not be low enough so i am considering h&r springs to go a tad bit lower

is it unheard of to put eibach shocks/h&r springs??? or would this set up be ok. my thinking is that the eibach shocks are made to handle lower springs, so it would probably match with the h&r springs just fine

    opinions please

Do you have quattro? I don't think Eibach shocks are available for quattro, otherwise I would've gotten them.

Re: eibach shocks and h&r springs??

how much lower are the h&r's?

i know of guys who ran into issues after running shorter springs on stock shocks, but those were 1 1/2"+ drops on lesser quality shocks than the eibachs.

my guess is that a diff. in drop of around 1/2" (between the h&r and eibachs) wouldn't be a problem.

actually, i think this guy's running that exact setup:

I believe you will be ok. Might want to check with Tirerack. Also, I believe Bilstein makes these Eibach shocks.

Are Bilstiens better than Eibach dampers then?

Eibach's were made to go with Eibach springs. I think it is uncertain if they will do well with other springs. They are valved differently. Can anyone confirm that Bilstein actually makes the Eibach dampers - I think Tirerack told me that.

my post probably isnt going to help you much. but i do know that the oem shocks oin the quattro and FWD are different. quattro and fwd are basically two completly different cars. but i believe that bilstein shocks are the same for fwd as they are for quattro. i think it depends on what shocks your using.
