Difference between 5spd and 6spd?

when it comes to exhaust or downpipes, or shifters or anything that has to do with going past or bolting to the tranny housing really...

what will fit and what wont? is there considerable difference?

The bracket for the downpipe is different from the 5spd to 6spd...but I am sure you could create a bracket if you had a creative mind

Exactly, I installed an exhaust from a 5 speed on my 6 speed. The bracket is easy to mod or simply mesure the length needed and buy it from the dealer. They have 3 or 4 brakets available. If I remember correctly they wanted $28 for one. I'm sure if you deal with a shop they can set you up.

so what about a downpipe for a 5spd? will the tranny from the 6spd get in the way, or will i just need to fabricate something to keep it stable? i really do appreciate the input guys. thank you for the help!

you would need to fabricate something to secure it to the tranny. here is what the awe tranny adaptor for 6 speeds looks like. the spring seems to be a key component to allow for flex when hitting bumps and when the exhaust heats up the metal expands.

The shifter is different. You can't use the 5spd shift kit on a 6spd. Does anyone here know the 6spd gear ratios by any chance? Sorry about the thread jacking...

6 speed aftermarket exhaust comes with a tranny to downpipe adapter bracket. (pictured above)

not sure, i have AWE and when ordering i stated it was for a 6 speed and it came that way. may have to create/customize your own or maybe call the exhaust manufacturer and see if they have one they can sell you.

maybe the stock exhaust will have it, if so, maybe weld that onto the new aftermarket exhaust.
