Re: 2 step & no lift shift for S4...

Yeah this was floating around the forums for the past couple of weeks. A lot of the A4 guys were debating about it.

The first video of the 2-step was only building about 3 psi. So it didn't seem to hot.

Re: 2 step & no lift shift for S4...

Ya, we tested it on our mk4 gti as you see in the video above, right before we went on vacation.

I need to do a little more tinkering and see if it is possible to build some more boost. We are going to verify our boost control is doing the maximum possible and check the throttle is open 100% when we return.

Getting it to do the actual 2 step out of the ecu- as in the actual rev limiter- might also end up putting the ecu into some unused portions of the map (how often do you drive at 0 roadspeed, 5k rpm's constant, WOT????) that might allow timing retard and additional fuel to be added without effecting the regular operation of the car. There are also some misfire maps in the ecu that may be able to be tweaked.

So, in short we think with a bit of help from the software boys (unitronic in our case) we may be able to build some real boost.

Any way you cut it, this is a LOT easier then trying to watch a tree and a tach at the same time and it should do a lot for consistancy even if it doesn't turn out to be the end all as far as building boost.

We aren't really in cahoots so to speak :p

We just have been long time unitronics users and odviously we know them now from just being in the industry. We are on vacation right now in their backyard so we met up with don from uni and were chatting it up. It'll be interesting to see where this takes us.

Re: 2 step & no lift shift for S4...

still 3 psi of boost off the line with our cars would be great...I mean if people want to blast from a stop light at 15psi that's their problem. I think 5-8psi would be great for the 2.7T

Re: 2 step & no lift shift for S4...

AFAIK they are either testing it on a B5 or testing is complete and they will have instructions out shortly. I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that it will work on b5 s4.

You guys better do this, and post a video of what it sounds like a gt's car

do it up, Jon and Jay are great and they will walk you through it- they can pull up the wiring diagrams and get the wire colors, plus they probably already know them pretty much since I know they have some B5 1.8t test cars around anyways.

Its a piece of cake, basically what you do is unravel the wiring harness for the coils, cut the main power wires to the coils (probably black with a purple stripe), and solder them to the WOT box. Then you just tap an injector lead, the clutch switch, and the gas pedal. So really there are 5 connections you need to make and then you need to wrap the harness back up with some friction tape for a nice OEM look.

It's only available for the SRT-4 at this point, not a S4.

I'm afraid thats standard fair these days due to the number of flakes around. They will refund it in full when you get them the pictures of the install they need for their manual.
