Is this for BT or BAT? It might be helpful to review the important things to watch so your engine doesn't fail. Maybe review some of the recent engine failures and any signs that were over looked.

Also, the preventative things that should be done:

Upgrading the fuel pump with a 30 series setup.
Wideband A/F gauge

Maybe just a review of the BAT setups. What has worked and what hasn't. Boost settings, octane used, water/meth, region/temp, etc. It might be helpful to have all of this in one thread.

Kind of simple, I guess, but I would like to see how to 'clock' a turbo (planning on going BAT) and where to get a coolant source from.

Clint, I think this is a great idea!!! Maybe we can steer everyone into the Beta Alpha Tau community and do correspodence there, it would be cool to see it grower than the Avant community which is kicking our ass.

I am working on a Javascript page with drop downs that will allow you to pick and choose different parts when you are creating the motor build and then it will only allow you to choose the correct parts to compliment it.

The software is going to be the hardest variable to nail down since no two individuals on here are running the exact same hardware setup.

thanks Greg, I must say this is one of the few times that we agree on something... anyway Im hoping itll make for some good reads

As for tuning, Im hoping the lugtronic will come through. Its got all the features of a standalone but its priced real nice, has build in wideband and boost control (you can ditch your Eboost), and it even has CANBUS

... O and also its open source so theres always room to upgrade

If lugtronics comes through, it wil be a nice thing for the B6, but please do not expect it to happen overnight though.

This chassis has been around since 2001 (tuners have had 8 years to fuck with it) and SEM is just not real friendly to it.

fair enough, but i feel like companies are purposely not giving us SEM because theyre killing the market with their off the shelf stuff. I will probably run the lugtronic before Christmas and use my car to test other things, I dont know what it will take to write in the CANBUS protocol for the B6 but its open source code so that should help

You the man Clint... I would like to see a listing of turbo set-ups (BT) that would be safe to run on stock internals and where the cut-off would be (BAT) that one would want to do at least rods

It would still be better to use a EBC seeing that it allows you to change the boost settings on the fly and is a boost gauge at the same time. I would HATE it if I needed to pull out my damn lap top every time I wanted to change my boost setting, to me thats worse then having to open up the hood to make boost adjustments with a MBC. Plus EBC's give you more options then just setting the boost.

Very important. Something more people on here need to learn. Heck, I'm still learning about logging and reading the logs. I really didn't start figuring it out and paying attention until I installed my 2.0L.

I've got the basics down which allow me to run my engine 'safe' at this point in time. 3,000miles and counting (on incomplete software) and so far the engine still looks great!

building my block this weekend with Jake, then I might do a built AEB head... Manifold and V-band 3" turboback exhaust are being made/modified as we speak. and my WOT box came in, dont you guys worry

yes they are clint, i have the manifold completely apart, getting ready to put it back together properly, and getting ready to build the jig. cant wait till i get the rx-7! hopefully next weekend.. so i can install this whole thing on my car and finish the exhaust... then get it all back to you so you can get your car back together! oh and i showed a few of my evo/dsm buddies what we got going on for your car and mine, and they were impressed.. they said they didnt think they would see this much evolution in the a4 world... but its coming soon, stand alone here we come!

its weird to think a few monthes ago i was ready to ditch this car and my 1+ plans because i had 2 fuel pumps shit the bed on me... and now i am building a custom 30 series kit with clint from the ground up... thanks for keeping me in the audi world clint!
