smoke coming from under the intake???

for a couple weeks now a strange odor has been coming from the front right side of my car.. i could never figure it out though. it seemed to come whenever i would drive in first gear so i posted a thread in the tech section describing the problem but no one really knew either. well today i drove my car around the block than parked it and popped the hood.. there was some smoke coming from underneath my intake.. it wasnt from the intake... but way underneath and i couldnt see where it was coming from.. it wasnt a lt of smok but enough to indicate that there is definately a problem here. . does anyone here have any idea what this could be.. sorry i know im not being very descriptive but im confused too..

What color was the smoke?

ok i looked under and i think your right.. now i dont know much about cars but im trying to learn.. so bear with me.. the leak is coming from the right exhaust directly below and to the right of the engine. there are two pieces bolted together and something is leaking through the middle.. i know im not being very descriptive but i really dont parts or what to call them..

so now my question is.. can i fix this myself?? if yes.. how? and also.. what could it be leaking??

Sounds like the flange on the downpipe has rotted through.
