i went to my local dealer to pick up a new lower center grill and left fog light grill cause i was driving around 55 in a light rain and for some reason there was a large plastic construction cone in the middle of the road which ofcourse i didnt notice until i hit it head on so it knocked out my lowers ....anyways i asked the guy how much will it cost for a full set of s4 blades he quoted me 579 which is not that bad considering i spend more money on my hockey equipment so i was wondering if the dealer does direct painting of the parts as well ??? i bought a roof spoiler of ebay and my body guy painted it flat black then i found out he didnt use oem paint so i was wondering if the dealer can do it once if i buy the s4 blades direct

    They will probably sub-contract it.

And dont buy the blades from the dealer, your getting ripped off. you can get them cheaper online. Ask around or look in The Classifieds. I got mine of a member here $300 shipped. As far as paint read ^^^^ what he said!

Re: does the dealer paint ?

If you are worried about paint matching, then, just make sure you give the body shop your paint code. If you are looking for OEM paint, as in the same brand they used at the factory, you may find it hard to find a shop that uses the same brand as Audi. Most reputable body shops will use PPG, which works well.

Even if you find a dealer who will paint your parts, sub-contracted or otherwise, they will not be using the same brand as Audi, Ongolstadt Factory, almost 100% sure of this.

Some dealers paint and the ones that don;t are supposed to reccommend you to go to the place they send cars that need paint work. They are always going to be an Audi certifed paint shop and they should have a certificate from Audi toprove it hanging on the wall somewhere. I was anal like that too when my car got hit and it came out perfect. Be prepared to drop some $$$ though. These shops are usually used to insurance claims and nice cars. The day I dropped my car off there were 2 A8s and a DB9 outside that they were working on becasue they were certifed from Maserati also.

Wow, that is anal, to worry about the type of paint a shop uses...hey, to each is their own. As long as the paint is quality, automotive paint with the right color, I can care less, but that's me. Good point about the insurance job, if it is an insurance job, I may get anal as well. But one need not to be this anal about painting lowers and door blades, tho...right? It is not like Audi uses some super great paint or anything, right?
