    I'm very disappointed...need advise...

    Hey guys,

A month ago, I went for the first time at 1/4 mile drag race just for fun with a friend of mine who drive a mustang 5.0. At this time I was completly stock except Unitronic stage 1+ chip (18psi) and forge DV. The temperature that day was sunny and 82F:my best run was 15.69 sec. Since this time, I've added a couple mods to my car. I've added a racetec FMIC, 3" testpipe, Milltek exhaust, 380cc injectors and switch for Unitronic stage 2 (20psi) program that is for upgraded exhaust. I went to the same track yesterday at night, temperature was 64F and my best run was 15.40 sec. That sucks, more than 2200$ later, 0.2 sec better time and average race speed was the same than the first time.
    I'm very disappointed now...

Have you guys experienced a good increased in power with similar mods ???

Without 60' times and trap speeds for those best runs you really can't come to any conclusions from comparing them.

the exhaust, testpipe, and FMIC aren't going to make any major number changes, but the new flash and EFIs though should have cut your time a little more then it did in my opinion.

are you really getting 20psi and don't have a boost leak?

I have a lot of numbers but my best 60' w/o mods was 2.028 sec and my best trap speed was 86.87 mph.

Yesterday, my best 60' was 2.019 sec and my best trap speed was 88.06 mph.

Looks normal for a 1+ setup.

    I did a 14.7 with 92 mph trap speed and a 1.9 60' time with my mods.

    It's a K04-15.

That was my first time at the 1/4 mile track. Full weight (spare, tool kit, etc) with about 3/4 full gas tank. 94 octane run.

2nd time is scheduled for Aug. 29.

Sorry to tell you this, but all those mods might have added 20HP....
Drag racing a small displacement, heavy car like this requires revs, and the ko3 isn't able to keep up when engine is revving above 5k,so you have no HP.

You probably felt a nice seat of the pants increase from those mods, but thats mainly from that low end ko3 torque spike, which is useless @ the strip as you should strive to keep revs above 5k.

Now you understand why people skip stock turbo upgrades and just go BT.
You could be running a 12.9 - 13.xxx had you spent all that money on a BT upgrade (including the money spent on the first chip).

GT28r is not much of an improvement over the K04. Expect to hit 1/4 mile in 13.4-13.7 at 100-103 mph on race gas.

    Having been in both a GT28rs B6 and a GT28r B5 cars, I've noticed that both turbos were far less on/off than a K03/K04.

I can not compare to other flash because I did'nt tried other, but it improve torque a lot. The car feels powerful between 2000 and 5000 RPM.

End of story, to go faster you need more power.

If you want fast drag times, get a big ole V8 stang or something like that. Keep the A4 for trips and daily duties. without alot of $$ the A4 will never be a great drag car.

V8's aren't exactly fast out of the box, so there will still be plenty of time and money spent on a V8 car to still make it fast at the drags. Plus they need big DR's or slicks to even put the power to the ground, other wise all you do is end up spinning the tires. You also take a huge chance in hitting the wall when 1 of those rear tires spins while the other one hooks. You are not likely to see a AWD ever hit the wall at the drags since its pretty much going to stay straight once its moving and even if it gets sideways on the launch it isn't like its going to be completely out of control.

I dont really want a fast drag racing car!!! My point is just that after FMIC, testpipe, exhaust, injector and flash tuning, the difference is small, I expected something better...

Well throwing mods at a car doesn't always mean your going to get gains, you need to log the car to see if the tune is working correctly with the mods you have.
