    is my oil filter broken?

I have a pretty major oil leak, and in my quest to find it, I discovered this:

The plug on the right hand side appears broken. I don't know if its suppose to be like the one on the left hand side. If so, can I just buy the piece or do I need to replace the whole unit? Could it cause a leak? Thanks in advance.

I think that's normal. That baffle should come out on the other side of the filter and I think only plugs one side.
