turbo whine

For the past 3 days my turbo has been making a loud whining sound. I thin kthe turbo is going going gone.. I do not have any mods on the car, its a 2001 A4QT, with about 127k on the clock... TB was replaced at 100k, now the car does "smoke" at cold start up, but does not after the car warms up. I am thinking there is obvious oil bypass from somewhere, just at a loss.. If it is the turbo, what is the best bet? Cash is a bit low right now, so that has to be taken into account. I have about $500 or so to spend. Is it wise to limp around this way and save up more to get a ko4 setup? Or what do all the gurus think?

Please help...

On a side note, I lost the capability of using my remote key entry too, checked all fuses and replaced the battery and all... on top of it all, my turn signals dont work, flashers do though?

Any and all advise is much appreciated!!!!

I just want my car back, and then I NEED to make it move and its a true turd in stock form...

Used K03 turbo's can be found on this site in the classified section for around $125-200 depending on mileage. That would get you around until you scrape up enough cash for a K04 build. Just an option.

I will have to search for one. Thanks for th einput. How much work to go to a ko4? I am sure I will need supporting software? I was thinking of an APR upgrade but not sure...

I really want o get the electrical figured out too:)

Check your diverter valve first...

I use to live in windor haha.... anyway, check the Diverter valve and for boost leaks (look at the L shaped hose toward the rear of the intake mani)

Windsor- the arm pit of the wine country! hahaha

I hope its the DV not the turbo... would you recommend upgrade to the 710?
