Tell Clay Aiken to sit his ass down and stay there like a good idol should!

Edit: Ah, I see you're in Hong Kong. The correct word is "idle" (Isn't English fun? Several spellings for words that sound the same and mean different things and weird grammar rules that make no sense! ).

    Re: idol problem

log for misfires in vag com channel 014, 015, 016 and check for fault codes. Could be a coil pack, bad spark plug, disconnected fuel injector plug, crank sensor, maf, 02 sensor, etc... also pressure test the system to check for any leaks.

No apology needed. Your english is better than that of a lot of people on here who speak it as a first language. LOL

    Re: idol problem

First it starts to jerk a little when I was driving home, then the car idle is unstable when I stop at the traffic light and the engine light came out on and off than I drive again the engine light goes off til when I park it.
I can restart the car but the idle would not stay.
    Thanks

    Re: idol problem

Sounds like a major vacuum leak or a turbo hose came loose or tore. Have you inspected all the piping from the turbo to the throttle body yet?

    Re: idol problem

I agree with the above posters.

It's very likely a coilpack, or a vacuum leak.
To check if it's a vacuum leak, unplug your MAF sensor. If the idle becomes stable after 30 seconds, you probably have a vacuum leak (or a bad MAF sensor).

To check if it is a coilpack, you can try the "unplug one coilpack at a time" trick. When you unplug a coilpack, the engine idle should become worse. If it does NOT become worse with one coilpack, you should replace that one. That, or use a VAG-COM and check for which cylinder misfires.

    Re: idol problem

No offense to this guy but he has posted many problems in the past. Being that you are in Hong Kong with limited audi guys that know what they are doing in your area, I'd HIGHLY suggest you buy a vag-com interface from Ross-tech.

    Re: idol problem

I had the same issue, turned out to be an intercooler hose that popped off. Mine would start and then die after 2 seconds. Dont change anything before you figure out the problem though, that gets spendy with Audis

    Re: idol problem

Unplug the MAF, if the idle cleans up you have a vac leak somewhere. If it stays the same I would look into the coilpacks/plugs

    Re: idle problem

yes unplug it while the car is on. The primary 02 sensor will keep your a/f in check so no need to worry.

    Re: idle problem

Just find out where is the problem.
It was the hose connector between the intake and the power brake is busted, no wonder the brake light came out earlier.
By the way, Co avant .
Where I can order Vag-com interface. Any sources!
    Thanks Guy
    Cheers
