    Coolant leak on 3.0L

I'll try this here instead. Ever since I bought this car I've been smelling burning coolant, I cant see where its coming from...but using my keen nose I can tell its defiantly coming from the rear of the left bank head area. I took it back to the dealer 2x and they said they cannot find a leak. They did have a hose replaced that runs from that area to the coolant res before i picked it up, and they keep telling me its just burn off from this old leak.

however, i've had the car for two weeks and I'm still smelling it, plus i noticed a small puddle of coolant in my garage now. where ever its coming from its very small, it doesnt look like its lost any coolant and its not over heating. Any ideas what it might be? I looked as hard as i could and cant see where its coming from. could this be the coolant flange/elbow i've read about?

    Re: Coolant leak on 3.0L

Check underneath the cover that says 3.0 on the front of the engine. Maybe the bleeder isn't tightened down all the way?

It is also possible that the gasket on the res cap is bad as well. A new one is only like $15 or you can just replace the gasket on the cap (~$2 or $3)

^hmm, the res cap gasket idea is a good one because it seems to be right around that area. might be dripping down and off the bottom of the res onto the exhaust. i'll defiantly check that.

i'll also check out your first suggestion. thanks.

follow the small return line to the coolant bottle behind the left head.. there is a screw-in nipple back there that always leaks, you have to replace it
