    B7 mods questions!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey all, I'm probably going to be getting an Audi within the next month or so, but I'm still on the fence between a B5 s4, B6 1.8t or a B7 2.0t. Main question is I want s4 speed, but don't want s4 gas mileage or maintenance, I want to know how much mods(and what mods) and the cost of making a b6 or b7 a4 the same speed as a b5 s4.

    Re: B7 mods questions!

I think as time progresses the B7 will get a lot more options. Specifically big turbo kits...

Check out auditude2.0t's thread...he has almost all the mods available right now for the B7 platform is apparently running 5 sec 0-60 times on average.

From my understanding the 2.0TFSI Engine is much better starting point than it's 1.8t predecessor.

    Re: B7 mods questions!

The other day I was behind a B5 S4 at a light and we both took off. I would say that we were even up to about 65 when we both started to slow down. The only engine performance/straight line speed mods I've had done are chip and intake. Those would put me right around the HP/TQ numbers of a stock B5 S4 although I think the B5 is lighter.

I would suggest going with a B7 because you are going to be getting a newer car and companies are now starting to come out with performance mods that will show the true potential of the 2.0T FSI engine (ie big turbo kits). On the other hand, a B5 S4 will probably be cheaper and the parts will all be readily available to lay down some serious numbers.

The only standing start, straight line racing I enjoy is on the way to the first corner.

Based on your response, the B7 will be your best bet. The turbo kits coming out for it will be as, if not more, powerful than the Stage III's for the 1.8T B6's. For right now you can get it pretty damn fast with $2850 (exhaust, fuel pump, software, Forge DV). It will cost you around $3300 to get it to a full Stage II+ (incl. FMIC).

I would take a B5 S4(in only Nogaro or Imola) and make it like Stage 2+++ and also get a B7 A4 2.0T and make it stage 2

    Best of both worlds!

    Re: B7 mods questions!

I think it would be harder to find a B5 S4. Higher miles, older car... it would be fun to play with but I wouldn't want it as my daily driver.

For the B6 S4, I don't trust those two little turbos at all if you chip it. I'd only go big turbo, but then you're going really aftermarket and its a lot of money to get everything running correctly. Nice cars though, but I've heard horror stories about the oem turbos.

B6 A4 1.8T. Many of them have sludge problems. I guess it's from original owners having no idea how to drive turbo cars, I really don't know. I had one friend buy this car from a dealership, and the thing damn near seized up a month later due to sludge and we didn't even see it coming. Good car if you're positive it has been taken care of, but it's damn slow stock and you're going to have to upgrade the turbo to make it quick... IMO I wouldn't buy one.

B7 A4 2.0T. Fresh new look, best options. Engine is great and very quick with just a chip, and still with good gas mileage. Older ones can be found easily in the low $20,000s. Most expensive choice though, but most reliable and not slow at all.
    Ignorance is bliss.

    Do you mean B5 S4? B6 S4 is a n/a V8.
