Battery completely dead after parking for 36hrs???

WTF? Parked Sunday night and came out this morning and not even a drop of charge. I checked everything and not a single light was left on. Do batteries usually do this on their last leg or is it more likely that something could have drained it. Damn.
Edit: actually went out to my car yesterday to put a damn parking pass in it and the doors opened and everything. More like 24 hours.

Modern day batteries will not give you much warning as to when they are going to die. How old is your battery ?

I'd take it to a shop and have them recharge it. If it happens again then get a new battery.

Once discharged, its lifespan will be severly handicapped. However, the shop can check and see if there is a problem with the alternator.

Get an Optima 34r and never worry about it again.

Bad batteries cause strange problems. I had a bad one and had to keep a charger in the back of the car over a weekend. Charged and started, drove 3 hours to Chicago with lights and heated seats on, arrived and shut the car off, wouldn't start. Same thing coming home. Swapped in the Optima and all is well.

So AAA came by and said my battery is toast. They jump started it and eventually it started so I immediately drove down to Pepboys and purchased a redtop Optima. When I came out, my doors wouldnt open and again the car was completely drained. Hopefully dont have to worry about that anytime soon.

Does the Optima fit in the stock location without any modification?

No. You need some type of aftermarket bracket to hold it down.
