So my buddy downloaded tthe new I-phone dynalicious software on his phone the other day and we gave it a go tonight. For those who don't know what this is, basically its Apples new version of turning your I-phone into a GTEC pro. My results have me wondering how accurate the software is. I'm a healthy running VAST stage 3 car with a good working clutch and tranny. When we did a pull it said my 0-60 was 5.3 seconds, 60 ft was 2.2 and the 1/8 mile was like a 9.0. I had a very good launch with just a little chirp of the wheels and hit all my shifts perfect. Is it just me or do these numbers seem to be way to slow

Remember that this app is a "toy". It said that my friends rabbit had 500+ hp. All this is, is an electronic butt dyno.

    Re: iphone performance data testing

I was getting some pretty slow numbers also, but thats because my car is slow (poor running 2+) and I my clutch doesn't grab. I think I was getting around 6.5 seconds and hp maxed out at 310 (had to go down a steep hill to get that though )

    Re: iphone performance data testing

my friend and i took it out in his CTS-V and he calibrated it just before the run, and we weighed the car at a trucker scale, and duct taped it to the dash (as flat as possible) and we got #'s within .2 of the actual CTS-V's stock #'s. Not HP of course, just the times.

    Re: iphone performance data testing

i just put an approximate weight of the car in, and I just laid it in the cup holder under the arm rest, so I can understand if thats whats causing the funky numbers.

yea, any movement at all will make the results useless. the accelerometers will detect any movement.

I know lil is 300 started a thread on this, but his results seemed to be more accurate:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ghlight=iphone

I think you have to be careful with the setup/calibration, and even then, take the results with a grain of salt.

I think your right about not being able to move it at all. My buddy was with me and he was holding it still on the armrest, but when we launched he picked it up so he could read it during the pull. Oh well maybe I'll try it again and duct tape it to the dash board and see what happens..

heh. an accelerometer senses movement/g-forces. no wonder your results are horrible you can't move it during the 'test'. it needs to be locked in place, at the proper angle/position (i don't know what that is for the i-phone).

a better, more developed perfomance testing accelerometer is the Passport GT2 G-Timer. it's only ~$70 at amazon right now.

edit: just noticed you're local... let me know if you want to test my passport GT2 against the iphone. and to also test my stg3 against yours. =)

yup. that is explained in the app and on the website. for best results you should calibrate right before your run as well. obviously the less straight/level the road is, the worse it'll be.

What are you guys using for a drivetrain loss percentage? Any good way of figuring this out for our cars?

    Re: iphone performance data testing

I got this not long after it came out. The first time I tried to use it, I couldn't get the iphone to stay still no matter what I tried. Finally I grabbed the owners manual out of the glove box, opened the folder, then put the iphone inside and laid it on the passenger seat.

I never got decent numbers that day, but recently I got 6.4 sec 0-60; 14.73 1/4 @ 103 with an absolutely horrible launch. By setting drivetrain losses to 0%, it measured 242 whp on a stage 2 with a claimed weight of 3500 lbs.

All in all, I think the program is relatively accurate, if nothing else, it should give an idea of the effect of various mods performed.
