Thinking of building a car.

Me and a few of my friends are thinking of building a car up for like a nice project. but we dont kno what car to do. we dont want to spend much money. but we want to make it really quick. and i have a 2 chevy 350s laying in my dads shop from his trucks. we were thinking maybe some frankenstien car w. a 350. but we dont want to do the obvious. like no honda civics, no fox body mustangs. and i think a audi is out of the question bc of the price. so please give us some ideas on cars.

You can always go evo, subarus, rx-7, pretty much anything JDM will be cheap and kinda quick.

no, evos, imprezas (good ones), rx7s are all pretty pricey, and not the best "project cars". he said he didnt want something obvious.. those are all obvious and pretty cliche if you ask me.

an early model VW with a 350 shoved under the hood would certainly be a good project, albeit rather labor intensive, but what good build isn't?
a C4 S4 is not the most expensive car, if you can find one. And building the 5cyl up would definitely be fun. hell just throw one of the 350s in it, convert it to RWD, maybe a small supercharger, and you got yourself a sweet frankencar
I know that Miatas are pretty cheap little cars, and nto many people build them because they're too "gay". I personally think theyre some of the best cars out there, after driving a supercharged one prepped for track. a 350 in that would be sickkk.

im sorry..i dont see how a cheap project car and EVO go in the same sentence???...and dropping a 350 into a VW would be hard since its FWD factory..It would be a good swap in a S13 or S14 240SX...its a RWD chassis already, its light and very easy to swap a 350 into...a good buddy of mine has a built 408 in a S14 w 411whp. Also consider RX7's and monster miata

yeah no evos or rexs. i really like the idea of a miata! and even a 240 is kinda out because a lot of people have them around here and everyone knows how quick they can be.

I got a 1990 miata with a cobra engine in it :) those are some amazing little cars, cheap, easy to build and very under rated.

you can get a e36 coupe shell for pretty cheap these days...that with a 350 motor would be beastly! if you could get it to fit, of course.

Yeah...drop the 350 in a 240Z or a RX-7. It can be done fairly cheaply and conversion mounts are available. I had a 327 240Z and that thing went like a bat out of hell

Check out this site http://jagsthatrun.com/. It has several conversion kits for matting a chevy 350 into several older cars, like the Z pictured above. I bet 240ZT could tell you all about it :)

Miatas are sick and underrated... People will stop flaming you for "driving a gay car" as soon as they hear small block chevy power coming from the tailpipes.. go for it
