Have you heard of this before?

Recently had a misfiring problem with my car.
It was misfiring only in banks 1,2,3 basically the whole passenger side.
Tried switching over the ICM and it still misfired in the same banks.
Then my mechanic said maybe the engine was not properly grounded and was causeing a short?? never heard of such a thing. So he ran a wire on that bank and grounded it to another part of the engine bay on the chassis.
And now the problem has gone away.
Is this pure coincidence or did he actually do something?
I have tried to beat the shit out the car to get it to misfire again to prove him worng but damn wont misfire anymore.
Someone tell me i am crazy..

Re: Have you heard of this before?

these cars are finicky with grounds

i had to take my main engine ground of 3 times or so just to clean it and reinstall it because i had charging problems and problems with sensors near the ground (oil level/temp sensor) and once cause my starter stopped working..

all problems were fixed by just cleaning and reinstalling the ground

Bad ground can cause a lot of troubles of any kind. I just fixed a truck that the cabin ground has burned b/c of thunder that fell on cab and engine died. Engine ground was still in good shap tho. But cabin could'nt link with engine via datalink sae j1939. Took a while to find ithe trouble.
