So what is the B8 S4 going to be?

The car won't debut until Paris Autoshow this September, and then we have to wait another for it to come to this side of the pond. One would have to be a psychic to tell you how much it will be.

Straight from Audi of America it will be a 3.0TFSI Supercharged V6. Which will be the same engine that is entering the A6 for 2009 as the base model engine.

^ They'll tune it. People have been throwing out numbers in the 333hp range. Consider that the 4.2 V8 in the S4 is the "same" as that in the RS4 and is the "same" as that in the R8.

Exactly... the S4's 3.0 SC will have much more power than the A6s version of the same engine

I know that the new car is going to be more advanced suspension and design-wise than the outgoing cars, but in the absence of a tune-able engine such as the 2.7 bi-turbo of the B5 or the brute force of the 4.2 V8 I have low expectations for this car performance-wise. I wonder if the next gen RS4 is going to retain the V8?

I remember Audi confirming somewhere that the new S4 will 'significantly' outperform the B6/B7 version. The B8A4 3.0TDI will have similar performance to the outgoing V8-powered S4.

One current rumor is a further tuned version of the high-rev 4.2L V8 with around 450hp.

Does anyone know where I could find full specs on the new s4... Weight? Length? I think i remember the s4 is going to be incredibly light. So if its much lighter with similar power it should destroy the current s4.

Also has Audi announced an RS version?

At A4 training in Sonoma, I was bitching to Declan about this and how they are dropping the ball by turning thier back on the enthusiasts who helped them get the cool sporty image they have now, and he finally caved and was like "OK JON, CHRIST ITS NOT OFFICIAL YET UNTIL THEY RELEASE THE CAR"

if it's not official that's pretty bad that that's what all the dealers are telling customers who inquire about the b8 s4. i spoke to my friend and he called in front of me to someone he knows at AoA and that's what they said.
