Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is the install on a 01' the same as the rest when it comes to the 034 Snub and Bracket?

Can I manage to install it with out the removal of the entire front end. Im under the car currently and the bracket is located on the oil pan, the old mount is cracked in two.

    Any help is appriciated. Thanks.

    Re: 034 Snub Install on a 2001

I'm trying to remember, but I think when I changed my oil pan there was fine access to the snub mount without putting the car in service mode. I ended up needing to do it anyway to manually crank the car to rotate the flywheel for the rear oil pan bolts, but I'm pretty sure we took the snub mount and bracket out from the three bolts on it without pulling the front end.

Yeah, I see if you take the oil pan off, you can have access to the snub. But at that point id rather take a day and pull the front end off

This was all pre-oil pan pulling. We had to loosen up that mount to drop the oil pan; it came first.

    Re: 034 Snub Install on a 2001

My APR snub mount was really easy to do ............................ I bought the car with it already installed ........

I took the front end apart when I had to replace my radiator support from the accident and Other than taking the front end apart, I didn't see an easy way to get to it. But it also didn't take me that long to do it either so a few hours at most.

How different is the 2001 snub mount install from a B6 snub mount install? The reason I ask is because there is a write up on AW for the B6 snub mount.

Here is a link and just scroll down to "snub mount install" There is one for the B6 and B7

    Re: 034 Snub Install on a 2001

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Yeh I researched teh b6 install, and that looks cake.

Mine isnt that easy, I think the differnce between mine and the earlier b5's is, my bracket is located on the oil pan. I took the bolts out of the bracket and its loose, the motor is supported. Im ganna see how high I can jack the motor up, I only need about 2" to pull everything out.

    Re: 034 Snub Install on a 2001

If you want to jack it up, you'll have to loosen the rear mounts as well. I don't think just the front mount will give you enough play. Maybe I'm just paranoid but that seems like it would put alot of stress on your rear mounts.

Im ganna loosen both motor mounts, and the snub bracket is already unbolted. You think I should touch the tranny mounts??

APR has an install on their site too. I did mine with the timing belt and had a heck of a time getting it to fit.

    Re: 034 Snub Install on a 2001

I tried doing it w/o removing the front end and it didn't work out. I broke an engine mount this way. Remember, even if you loosen the mounts, the trannie mounts are still there and youre really flexing those.

    Here is what I did.

Find a strong helper. Pull the bumper off, loosen all the front end bolts and have the helper lift the entire radiator support w/ radiator few inches away from the car. You'll then have access to the snub mount. Swap it fast and you're done.

You're going to have to torch the inside of the 034 snub a bit, its a bitch to get it on.
