    2005 CPO and Audi Care

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    So I picked up my 2005 USP CPO (certified pre-owned) today and they tried to sell me into paying for Audi Care ($895 for 2 years / 50K miles of free maintenance).

    The car has 45K on it right now, and will be out of the original warranty in 5-6 months, then the 2 year CPO starts.

    The dealer told me that the maintenance over the next 2 years / 50K miles would be in the $thousands so $895 is a good deal. However, I know I'll put maybe 15K miles/year on it in the next 2 years so I don't know what's needed between the 50K and 75K.

    Can you guys let me know this? I'd appreciate it. Also, any recommendations on what to do (I'm inclined towards refusing the audi care).

    Thanks!

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    I paid the extra when I bought mine and it paid for it self. Between a broken, headlight washer, A/C head unit, window regulator, and broken seat cable. Some are going to say not worth it but you only pay a $50 co pay and they cover the labor and part if it is included in the warranty. Read the warranty for what is covered and you'll get a good idea if you think it is worth it for you.

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    Thanks! Now the question is -- in your case since you had both CPO and Audi Care coverage, would you have gotten the fixes done only under the CPO (if you didn't get Audi Care in advance) and only would have had to pay for the $50 deductible?

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    Don't quote me, but I believe the Audi care gets you the $50 deductable, you also get the free roadside assistance, service call reminders and what not.. like I said, read the brochoure, it seemed worth it for me since I travel a lot and worked alot during that time frame and idn't have time to do the work my self, like I am now doing since my warranty is expired. Your service rep should be able to clarify the difference in just having the CPO and then the advantages of adding the Audi Care.

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    It is a $50 deductible. However, reading the stories of Audi refusing to cover repairs via warranty has really turned me off to how Audi conducts its business and stands up for its products. What good is a 2 year CPO, if Audi won't fix it because of some lame excuse?

    I never got any excuses... as long as it was a covered item. I have read the stories and I agree people have been getting shafted, but those are all negative stories, just like many threads on here, 80 problems looking for solutions, 10 pic whoring and 10 wheel threads... Not to many people post up, hey I had a great service rep get my car fixed, since that is not how people generally think. just my 2 cents and I am guilty of pic whoring lol.. and all the trouble shooting threads are great, made fixing my issues so muxh easier just by doing a quick search. My advice is to go to a dealer with a good cutomer service rating and stick with them, no matter where you live. I go back to mine in Mass, from Baltimore if I have problems.

    Hi,

    That's interesting - what dealer do you recommend in Mass?

    I bought the car from NY but live in Boston so I look forward to getting it serviced here.

    Now, with regards to the audi care, is there a list of services to be performed between 50K and 75K say and what their costs are?

    Thanks!

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    I went to Tracy Audi and VW in Hyannis, it is on the cape, so somewhat of a haul for you but that being said they are great. I recommend Jodi to be your service rep, she's cute too which is always a plus when you are bumed about your car being broken... lol.. the service items are in the back of your manual, inspections mostly and lubricating your doors and sunroof. They'll check your brakes and run codes during these inspections... picked up a faulty coilpack that I didn't even notice.. :) Along with fixing the other items I mentioned.. or giving me the part numbers for the parts so I could get them myself.

    Timing belt at 75k on a 05 that alone is like 1100-1700 from the dealer.

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    Well are the timing belt and water pump required to be replaced? I'm assuming that since you purchase Audi Care you can't just ask the dealer to change parts; they must be done within their service interval, correct?

    The way to look at it in other words would be to see:

    (1) what service gets done between 50K and 75K or 100K;

    (2) see if you reach that mileage within the 2 years;

    (3) if price of the service(s) < care package $, then buy the maint. package.

    Am I missing something?

    TIA

    Re: 2005 CPO and Audi Care

    Not required, but it would be smart to change the waterpump when you change the timing belt.

    EDIT: I also heard the idler pulley and the thermostat should also be replaced at the same time for piece of mind.
