Question San Antonio - a4 mods - Warranty Work

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, i'm still pretty new here and had a question to those who may live in the san antonio texas area here in the us. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with warranty work needing to be done by the dealership in town and how they handled it if you have any performance mods to the car. I was curious because I am interested in perhaps touching up some stuff.....not sure if I should though. thanks in advance!

well what are you planning on doing? they can only void your warranty if they CAN prove that the mod you did caused the problem. If you do a chip and they know and you tare a DV they wont cover it. it's cheap but not free!

I chipped mine at 2K miles. I now have around 26K. Just do it, it won't hurt it.

What chip are you going with and who are you going to? I have a suggestion if you want to go APR. Chip takes 15-20 mins. max.

yeah? thats not that long at all. awesome.

I have looked online and seen some vids on the APR project on youtube. ..it was cool. they did the chip and suspension and exhaust before anything else. they didn't even mention the new DV or fuel pump. would you all think that this is the right way to go or should i updated the fuel pump after i chip it and everything?

If you have the money, go get the Chip and a new DV first, then get exhaust and fuel pump together. If you want APR go to Prestige Tuning. Prestige can do everything you want to have done to the car performance-wise. Mark does awesome work.

if you have concerns about warranty refer to the magnuson act.

Re: San Antonio - a4 mods - Warranty Work

anything you do to your engine that changes the setting of the stock motor can nullify your warrenty. The magnuson-moss act basically says they can't void your warranty unless they can prove it was the chip that did it. Essentially if your window regulator breaks they can't blame it on the chip. So if your tubo blows, or something else happens in the engine or related to the engine, ie clutch, and the dealership WILL void your warrenty in that case if they knew about the chip. It's a chance we all take with chips, and don't think the magnusson-moss act protects you against chips.
