Anyone have any knowledge about the chips for 4.2. I know they have a engine and tranny chip, but wonder if they are worth it?

    thanks

I have hear only that gains are limited, but VAST chips provide better results. I would call them. Ask for Prince or Kurt.... www.vastperformance.com

    Re: APR Chip for 4.2

To my knowledge APR doesn't make a 4.2 chip. They make one for the Allroad since it has a detuned chain driven version of the S4 4.2. It is supposed to bring it up to S4 levels. Just from what I remember. The 4.2 is not a tuner motor.

Gigi's right check out the video from vast about their 4.2 it seems better. Also the tip chip will cut shift times down make it "feel like your putting more power down" -Gigi. I would have it now if i weren't getting rid of the car

    Re: APR Chip for 4.2

I have a 2.7 and the APR chip. All i know is that most chips won't give you much HP gain on the 4.2 like on they do on a turbo engine but it does free a few ponies and mostly makes the throttle more responsive on the 4.2.
VAST chips are supposed to be the best for that car, both ECu and TCU. I don't think APR makes a tip chip, just GIAC and VAST.
I do have the VAST tip chip and it made a significant difference... I highly recommend it, several people hav eit on their 4.2 and 2.7 on Audiforums. All seem very pleased with the performance gain and we are all extremely pleases with the service Kurt and Prince provide all their customers.

    Re: APR Chip for 4.2

Thanks for the info on the chips fellas. I always questioned the chips for the 4.2, cause there doesnt seem to be much room for tuning a natural aspirated v8 like that. I would be interested in the tranny chip though. The delay in shifting can be annoying sometimes, so anything to cure that would be great.

    thanks for the responses
