I have a B6 Avant and am looking at upgrading the the new Avant. I am hoping to test drive a new B8 on Monday and see how the "faster shifting" tiptronic is or do I wait for a 6 spd.

That's cool...so you'd get rid of your B6, huh? I won't be getting rid of my S4 Avant - but may consider another Avant!

I have 2 kids now and the back seats are too small on the B6. I will have to see how much more room is in the new Avant. I do love the look of the new model. i may end up going with a used B7 6spd instead if I can find a nice s-line.

I'm leasing an 07 A4 Avant for 45months. I'm half way into my lease and have less than 18 000km. Don't know if I want to buy it at the end of my lease term or get a B8 Avant.

The B8 is quite a bit larger than the B6/7, especially at the back. I would say that it is somewhere between a B7 & C6A6 now

Yeah, just from pictures alone, the B8 looks huge - almost A6 size. Speaking of which, have you checked out the A6 Avant 20AE428?

I traded in a 05 A6 3.2 Avant for the B8. I also had a B7 RS4 before so I know the difference in size for those 3 cars very well.

The lease on my 06 is up next April. I hope to extend the lease for a few months after that so I can get into a B8 S4.

Not a big fan of the A6 and even though I need the room in the back seat I prefer a smaller car. I have the A3 and the A4 avant for the wife. I am missing the Quattro for myself so it's either the new A3 with Quattro or the B8 Avant which I don't think is going to be too much more than a loaded a3 quattro and I love the new model.

I have until next July to figure it out as that is when my lease ends. At least by then I'll know what the 2010 model changes will be. I'm considering keeping my car 'cause I really like it and it's kewl, the new A4 2.0T, A5, or new S4. It will also be interesting to see if Audi changes to the same engine in the S5 as they are planning for the new S4.

20AE428 - do you find a big difference in space between the A3 and A4?
ive got a newborn so have to start thinking about kids seats, strollers...

Id like to get the B8 avant but the lack of dsg ruins it. My backup options are dsg A3 with quattro maybe the new GTI since it may get quattro or a B5 S4 avant even thought the wife hates it because it 'old'

I'm assuming the typical year-over-year upgrades, nothing major. I'm guessing the B8 will be around for 3-5 years before the B9 comes out. That's the typical cycle for model generations.

Currently in an '06 B7 sedan, but looking to also get into a B8 S4 Avant or even an S5. I know, two totally different animals, but I'm really curious to see the B8 S4 before making any decision.

If they truly are going with a supercharged engine, or any forced induction, I'm thinking the mod potential there will be a lot greater (easier) than an N/A V8 in the S5.

    2003 infiniti G35.

I actually wanted a b6 when I got it a little over a year ago but I go the car for $1000 under trade in value so that was hard to pass up.

sadly, with the car market now I'm actually still slightly upside down. :-/

I reiterate what I said above in this thread - I don't think it's been confirmed (although not officially denied either) that the B8 S4 will come to the US in Avant clothes...I'm keep my fingers crossed.

I find the A3 has as much room if not more in the back seat as my B6 A4 but you also lack a bit of necessary room in the cargo area. My B6 is a tip 5spd and it is an absolute dissapointment everytime I get behind the wheel. Fortunately for now i can get in the A3 for some fun. Ultimately though I want I Audi I can enjoy for all and now that there is an actual Sport package interior in the new B8 it is finally a true sport wagon without buying the gussler V8. I am looking forward to the bigger rear seat and cargo room of the B8 now with 2 kids. I am 6'3" so neither current car offers enough decent room for a reverse facing kids seat. Ends up my wife has no leg room. The A3 is also very tight to get the kids in thier seats with the slope of the roof line. I will be looking at a 6 spd manual in the spring unless the new 7 spd dsg is avail. for Fall '09 delivery.

the interior of the B8 layout is very different than the B6/B7. I was looking for controls in the beginning lol.
the car is nice, tight, and good steering. power is better of course.

Not to add to the flame bait but I agree. Before I went the G35 route, I wanted a mazdaspeed3 for the lower payment but the hatchback killed it - same thing with the new Sti.

Even when they are hooked up they still reminds me of my moms old station wagon... and I hated that thing. :-/

Why? I don't know about others, but for me, I want something that has versatility and utility. In otherwords, I like to have the handling of a sport sedan, but the ability to toss my gear, kids, and dogs in the back when i need to. It's a great alternative giving me the best of both worlds, especially when I don't really want or like SUVs and crossover cars. You also don't really ever see too many S4 avants on the road, which gives it some exclusiveness. Plus, when you got walked on by a "station wagon", it feels 2x worse than a sedan

In otherwords, I like to have the handling of a sport sedan, but the ability to toss my gear, kids, and dogs in the back when i need to.
You toss your kids in the back?!

In all seriousness, I'll consider an Avant when it's time to start a family simply because I've seen how much crap you have to bring along when you take kids places.

My B8 will be replacing an suv, so an avant is a must. I snowboard a lot and I need room, I'll probably be getting a roof box too.

Cool. It better be manual otherwise I may have to go with a GTS and I really don't want an SUV.
