Red Top. Have one in my car. One thing however, you will want to have a bracket fabb'd to hold it in tight. Not a real worthy mod, IMO. I happen to be given mine for free, so why the hell not. Dry Cell, if it ever goes dead it will never be the same. So I've been told. I keep the OEM charged and ready to go in case of a jam.

I'd probably steer clear of optima. I've had two of them die in my other cars and they were garbage after that. I even have a dead one sitting in my garage right now! Not sure if it's due to the extreme heat here in phoenix.. Maybe you'll have better luck

The heat is pretty bad where I live too so I'll take your advice.

    Re: Optima light weight battery

There is no Optima battery that weighs less then 38lbs for oem replacement. That would be the model blue top #34m 38lbs. This battery is only 13lbs less than stock. But would be a suitable replacement for the OEM

The list weights of the red tops are very high

They do have the RED TOP STARTING batteries (this is different then the standard red top) but the lowest 12V batt is 32lbs. This batt should work for every day use and save you 20lbs over stock
    part # 25 & 35

go here for all the Specs and weight listings

    http://www.optimabatteries.com/optim...ical_specs.php

or go here for the Brallie batt the better option for light batt. You can get a 6lbs batt if you want

    Re: Optima light weight battery

I'm just going to go with a standard die hard from sears. My battery died yesterday so I thought that this was a good opportunity to save a bit of weight.
