    Clutch advice

I just blew out my clutch and am looking to do an upgrade that will last under heavy power. I don't know if I am going to do 997 hybrid K04's or GT25s yet when i do upgrade the turbos, but I def want to have a clutch/fw combo that will hold.

I was thinking of going Southbend FE and a LW aluminum fw but I heard that the two have a problem of melting and fusing together under high stress. Does anybody know about this combo having such problems? Either that or are there any other reliable Clutch/fw options in the 1500 range?

    Re: Clutch advice

If your respect your legs or life I would never run a stock 2 piece flywheel on a sub 500whp car period... So Gavin if your goal is this or beyond get rid of the stock flywheel and go with a single mass steel one like me or the aluminum one, you cant go wrong with a twin disc, but to say a few hundred is a little off more like 6-800.00 more

If that's true then 99% of non-auto owners on this forum better have good disability insurance.

    Re: Clutch advice

I ordered the SouthBend OFE but I haven't started my stage 3 swap yet, It should be finished within a week. No LW flywheels mate up to it though. So if your looking for SB stick with the Dual Mass. Just make sure you get a resurfaced flywheel.

    Re: Clutch advice

southbend stock fw, if you have the light flywheel your going to just keep moving when you let off the gas, where as if you have the stock FW you will slow down as soon as you let off.
when i bought my clutch i was going to do that stage 5 or whatever and the guy said that they have been having tons of problems with them fusing or something and he said that the satge 2 was fine unless i planned on doing le mans lol. the clutch isnt much different feeling from stock IMO but i come from a mustang that has a spec III+ and you cant even push it in at a stop light or your leg gets all jumpy!
