Where exactley is it located? I've been reading up on all the S4 guy's problems with them, and they match mine down to a T, so I have a feeling my EGT is bad.

the other problem: Where do I buy a new one at??

    thanks in advance

No such thing in your car. What are your symptoms? Did you vag your car at all?

Yea, you don't have one. The 2.7T guys do, they're mounted immediately before the turbine inlet. AFAIK, none of the 1.8T's have 'em. I'm a 98.5 as well and I know we don't have one.

Installing one would be cool though.

    What's the symptoms?

Not even the 2001+ A4 1.8t's have a EGT sensor, they just use the wide band sensor to read out temps but aren't even close to being correct in anyway. No such thing on the pre 2001's.

    well shit, then idk.

my car is running lean, and its only with my giac chip in. Stock chip runs fine.
and it misfires at anything above 5 psi....except with the stock chip in, then it will boost 8 psi for days without a hint of misfire.

i have a similar problem, and it just happened all of a sudden, I'm running the stock turbo and its throwing a P1137 CEL (I think) that says something to the effect of; system running too lean (intermittent). the weird part is that the cel is also intermittent, it goes away but stays in pending on the vag-com.

    Check/re-gap your plugs first.

While your in there make sure your vacuum line is connected to the fuel pressure regulator.

Either way, EGT's shouldn't effect misfires.

    Re: EGT on a 1.8t?

EGT's on a S4 cause lack of power, not really misfires. If anything its either your front 02 on its way out or the Maf. Those two parts are responsible for your fueling and can affect power significantly.

    Re: EGT on a 1.8t?

yeah, I forgot to mention I've already done all that...

I've basically torn my front end apart just to check every single hose/part, pressure tested up to 15 psi, replaced my front O2, everything!
