dealership screwed up

alright so heres story.. my buddy bought an 03 3.0 quattro a few months ago, well he picked it up from the dealership cuz they bought it from an auction. the check engine light came on shortly after so he took it back. They had for two days and said they had to replace the 02 sensors, well he drove it around for about three days and bam they CEL came on again so he took it back and they said they would take care of it. Well he got it back and no CEL and when he picked it up they said you wont ever have a problem with the CEL again!. so he drove it around a bit and thought "did they pull the dash apart and just pull the light?" and well to the left side of his steering colum the wood grain is spidered like they stuck a screw driver in and pried it up. so he shuts the car off and turns it over to see if all the lights come on for that brief moment and sure enough no CEL came on.. So he took it back and they said they didn't have time for it and to a mechanic and let them know.. so he did and the mechanic said the tried to pull the Codes and nothing cuz the light wasn't working. They also said that they had never replaced the 02 sonsors cuz they still look old.. So he called the Audi Dealership and they said it will be atleast $1500 to get the light to come on! anybody know how to DIY so he doesn't have to spend the money at the dealer??
The place he got it from pretty much told him to F'off now soo he's pissed at them..

man, i would call audi of america and Bi**h till they did something about it, thats a safety issue if they pulled the light out..thats just wrong

yea his wife is excellent at yellin at people and gettin her way lol ill just have him call them sometime and see what they say about it.. Anyway other opinions are still appreciated thanks guys

i dont mean to sound like an asshole, but either this is not an audi dealer, or your friend monkey fucked around with his car and screwed shit up and now your on here playing the whole "he took his car to a shop and they messed it up game". why in hell would you want information on how to fix the car when this is complete dealer negligence. simple enough make them fix it.

no it was not an audi dealer it was a used car dealership that got the car from an auction thing is everything worked cept the CEL was on for 02 sensors then thats when it started
