    Headlight conversion options

I have just the standard halogen headlights and i hate them. Ive been looking into the stock Ecode xenons which ECS and OEMplUS have for around $1300. That price isnt bad at all so i contact both companies to make sure that its the right product for my car...then find out that $1300 is only for the housing and the bulbs and ballast will cost me another $1000! $2300 is way to much for me for headlights. NOW, what other options do i have? HIDs?

if you check the classified section frequently, you can get housing + bulb + ballast + wiring harness from "lowestA4". Jens has sold many sets on our forum for $700-900 range. He do sell them really quick whenever he has them tho, so you have to check frequently and be ready with the money.

Best advise is to frequently check the forums for Jens BiXenon Sales. It took me almost 4 months to get me a pair and it was well worth the wait.

a HID kit will not cost you another $1000. I'm pretty sure VVME has a D2s HID kit. If you want higher quality, I'm pretty sure Apexcone has D2s HID kit too.

CHECK OUT DEPO... their headlights are sick and the cheapest! They are projectors but you will have to buy a xenon HID kit (~$175.... I think) which comes with the ballast and bulbs... this direction you will not have to wait and will have the most unique headlights on these forums... They have mixed reviews on different cars like on some cars the fitting wasn't perfect, but I heard they have test fitted these very well and have pictures of the look on our B7's.

    Re: Headlight conversion options

the newer depo headlights, I would still avoid--- the beam pattern is craptastic. It gets worse with a HID kit.

    Re: Headlight conversion options

I've had older Depo H7 projector headlights before, when their beam pattern was barely plausible. THe newer ones, all the H7 projectors which Depo uses are the same crappy projector-- the resultant beam pattern is you do get the stepped cut-off, but beam is full of random bright & dim spots. It can get worse with a HID kit installed.

Compare to my OEM Valeo H7 projector on my Passat.

Projectors come in different qualities. YOu pretty much get what you pay for.

THere are people who buy Depo projector assemblies with the intent immediately swapping the crappy Depo projector with a real HID projector retrofit (takes some work, but the effort can be rewarding).

and...sorry, yes I became spoiled due to my old car, which had a S2000 low beam projector retrofit....

there's a sample picture on the ebay link posted above... they look pretty sick. I just got an email from the DEPO sellers and the headlights come with wiring harness and bulbs... but did not mention what size/type.
