Nexen 7000???? What do you think???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm about to make "another" tire purchase & a buddy of mine told me about these Nexen 7000's. What have you guys/gals heard??? He raves about them. I don't track the car, btw, b6 a4 1.8tq SE, & it's basically stock. I'm interested in a higher performance all season to get me thru the winter too. I know, I've been in & am from the world of steelies; however, that ship has sailed for now. I just need a decent all season to get me thru.

Thoughts on NExen 7000's & or other's that are reasonably priced.

Nexen N3000 summer tires came with my car and I think they are great for the price, but they are noisy, maybe due to the tread design, which is very diff. that the one above. If the All-Seasons are the same quality, I'd say go for it unless you find a more "reputable" tire in your budget.

you would be better served by picking up a higher quality all-season tire. i would look on tirerack.com for your tire size in an all season and read some reviews. the continental extreme is a great high performance all season. the khumo asx is another that is very good and very affordable.

Tks for your honesty & prompt response, yes the N7000 is a different tire. I've heard good things, but again we all know tires can be expensive & the Quattro's go thru them quick.

I'm kinda right there with you & would like some more feedback. I am from the school of "you get what you pay for" However, some of the last purchases, IE, Avon, Perrelli, BF Goodrich, Goodyear's, The quattro just chews thru them so fast. The best A/S were the the Goodyear Eagle RSA's, 40K, but the car was new & that is what came on it. Bushings tight, etc.

Khumo ASX's my buddy had them on his MKIV Jetta & he didn't like them, Conti's I don't know a thing about. Back in High school I had a car with them & they weren't bad.

    (Side Note Story)
Also, the Nexen purchase (possibly) is because the last set of tire I got from the Tire rack only lasted 12K, I called them after doing thousands of business with them & all they would do for me is give a 20% discount on my next purchase. The guy with the Nexen's is a small business owner (like me) & I almost feel obligated to give him my business now. I know it sounds funny to some, but Online or personal relationship.....

Any other thoughts, on a reasonable A/S tire; BTW, my wife is the one who will be driving the Audi most of the time this winter. I'll pull the Jeep out again. TIA

My current set of tires from tirerack is almost dead and they have about 11k miles on them. I knew they were not going to last long when i made the purchase. If a tire gets chewed up it is usually do to a bad tire, bad alignment, track use/ aggressive driving, suspension issues or just not being properly inflated.

As for giving the biz local, i aggree with you. But i would see if he can order you a different tire. The Conti extreme is a great all around tire. good in snow and good in the dry. very resonable pricing. I put the khumo in there is $$ was an issue. The other option you have is the fuzion's. They are the generic bridgestone brand. Good tire for the $$. The yoko Avid T4 & ws4 are great too

Thanks for taking the time to host the links, that made it much easier for me. The Fuzions & the last Yok don't come in the size I need, but that is ok, after reading the reviews on the Conti, I'm scared I'm beginning to think it's a "get what you pay for" kind of thing.

Clearly this is the only thing between me & the road; however, I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep this car too. I might just keep it another year & my wife does't drive that much. Maybe 12K a year, for Price the Nexens might be the way to fly also with the time I might have the car.

Thank you kindly for your input & help, you have made my decision easier. I will explore the Conti Sports more though

Just bought a set with new 18" wheels. Very happy thus far, work well in the rain and they look good with the wheels....
