    S4 seats into A4

My car did not have power seats from the factory... as some may know, the power and non power seats use different front mount points. The front mounts hit on the S4 seat power rails and only let the seats go so far forward.

My question is, this front mount... is it removable by lifting the carpet up, or is it welded right to the frame of the car? I just want to know what im getting into before I tear my carpet up. With the carpet in place, I cant see much, just that the bracket is welded down, but I cant tell if its welded to the floor or to a piece thats removable.

    Thanks!

    Re: S4 seats into A4

I looked seriously into this a long time ago because I had an offer for an entire S4 interior, black leather, for $500. Pretty sure it's welded but it's been a while so hopefully someone else will chime in.

It sounds like you have already invested a lot of thought into this project, but just in case you haven't, it might be a slightly overwhelming project. When I suggested this I got a lot of opposition; people have done it, but it's no cake walk. The main thing is you have to weld some sort of nut to the floor to bolt the seats down. Well, if you can weld yourself then you're fine. Apparently most shops won't touch a project like this for liability reasons. Moreover, even upon completing the install, you have to wonder how it will hold up.. say in the instance of an accident. There is some type of lock-device designed to work without welding but it sounds entirely unsafe.

Anyways, I decided against doing it, but I really hope it works out for you.. be sure to upload some pictures when it's done! I've always dreamed about having S4 seats!

I am fairly sure that is welded. Having said that a grinder will take it right off. You will then have to reweld some sort of braket or tab back in. If welded correctly, that should hold up just fine in any sort of accident.

This a a fairly large task and as mentioned above, many shops probably wont do it.

i have blue alcantara seats in my A4. You have to grind off that front bracket in order for the seat to move all the way forward. Also you'll notice that there is a hole where the front screws are supposed to go thru. I screwed 2 screws thru the metal (right in front of the hole) to hold it down

i find that with my S4 seats installed they still lift a little in the front, like when i get in and out of the car they kinda lift a tad, all i have done was insert rivit them in the factory whole, i guess i have to do what sfxboy did and jsut screw them with new holes. Do your steats stay in the car sung with no lifting or anything?

Mind you, S4 seats weigh 75 pounds each, vs around 25 pounds for A4 manual seats. A lot of extra weight.

yea i feel that as well from time to time, but only on my drivers....passenger seat is fine. I think the sliders the seat slides on are wearing though. I remember seeing some S4 guys post the same kind of symptoms.....and replacing the slide tabs that ECS Tuning sells. Come to think of it I think this may have fallen out when I was swapping the seats (hence the slight rock).

I did this on my manual A4 sport seats and it worked, except I didn't put any new grease on and now it's near impossible to move the damn seat. Make sure you get the right grease and apply it!
