I typed that code into the search and got 58 results.. I clicked on one link and it was full of useful information. Good luck. If you can't find a solution by searching, there are a lot of people that will help you out.

    Re: My First CEL lol!!

Some people just have problems with spelling.. my brother is one of them, but I don't make fun of the poor kid for it.

There are some possible causes and places you can start. But running lean is never a good thing..

Lol at dipstick tube causing vacuum leak. Your mechanic skills are worse than your typing abilities.

This would create a lean condition due to a vacuum leak. So yes, that is a problem. Replace the dipstick tube and the dipstick. Relatively cheap parts from the dealer. They usually stock them because the tubes become brittle and are easy to break during an oil change.

hey A bad dipstick tube causes a type of vacuum leak. Run your car without it for long enough and you'll get a CEL, often for fuel trims out of range. The crankcases must have a sealed breather system for emission reasons. OBDII standards. I saw quite a few MILs at the dealer from loose oil caps and broken dipstick tubes on Audis, VWs, and Porsche from DIYs or quick-lubes. The tubes on 1.8Ts are really easy to crack or pull out of place. They are "held" in place by that bracket off the valve cover that makes it look like it's in place...

    Re: My First CEL lol!!

Kaka, that's some amazing advice. I've probably posted half a dozen times about lean codes that don't go away and no one has ever brought this up, but now that I think about it, both of the Audi's in my family have broken dipsticks. Not horribly broken, but are certainly brittle and cracked. Maybe I'll order 5 of them and replace with every oil change... little ******s are pretty much a wear item!

Well, that's the theory until I look up the part and realize that because it's Audi, the cheap piece of plastic actually costs over $70. Like my $65 coolant house and $24 coolant. Sigh.
