Question Weard sound comming from breaks ???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    s. Heres the thing, as im driving and get above 40km i start hearing a squealing that sounds like a loose belt pully but its not because as soon as i hit the breaks it goes away. I have also turned the car off while coasting and it still made the sound but again as soon as i pressed the break it goes away. So im trying to figure out what is causing this? any suggestions, i have already tied and cleaned the shit out of the breaks with reak cleaner, and have checked to make sure there are no loose tire lugs.

    Thanks

Do you know which wheel? You can narrow it down F/R by using the handbrake. Goes away, its in the back.

Does the noise change in pitch when you go faster? << could be something in the engine bay touching an accessory belt and brakes only reposition the offender temporarily.

Contaminated brake pads or out of place hardware can def cause this behavior

Take off the wheel on the noisemaker side and look at the rotor surfaces for any bright scoring marks. Pull the caliper and look for ridges on the pads or see if there are marks or a big fleck of metal in them. Feel the pads braking surface to find any sharp bumps. Look at the brake hardware and metal air guides for shiny areas that indicate lathe action by the spinning rotor and cause of the noise.

Same thing happened to my friends TT after he just got new brakes. So we narrowed it down to the RF wheel and took of the caliper and found he got a small rock stuck in there.

    Weird
    Brakes

Contamination, dirt, uneven or poor bedding, and misassembly can all make this noise. Oull them down and isnpect. Reprot. It all guesses until you see them.
