    What do you think?

OK -- I guess this has been coming for a while. Gigi, Frank, Daft, Endee and others have all remarked on rim size and need to lower my C5. I agree. I'll use S4-17s for winter

I have 4 sets of 18s in mind, not sure if 8 vs. 8.5 matters (assume 235/40). Also looking into H&R or Eibach springs (H&R sportline seems to be midpoint between Sport Eibach and Pro-kit drops). Please advise!

pic of current wheels, no drop:

    Four rims:

(I also am not certain about ET, but 35mm offset seems the norm?)

I would love BBS and others, of course, but budget limited. Thanks in advance, guys.

    Re: What do you think?

I fixed the picture links for you.

I like the S8 wheels the best. My second choice is the thin spoked rims with the Audi center cap. They have a nice lip and still look kind of OEM-ish.

    Re: What do you think?

im curious as to see how the s8 wheels would look. i think they would look hot with the right drop. also from what i have heard, just springs will make u have a bit of a harsh ride. maybe invest into coilovers first?

    coilovers = triple cost

Actually doing shocks and spring combo -- not sure which combo; Koni/Bilstein and H&R/Eibach.

    how about these?

i love mine. the only thing i wonder is if they're the "hc" (high clearance) version like mine. that would leave room for a bbk down the road.

    Re: What do you think?

S8 (Hartmann) is bottom, AEZ is #2 -- and yeah, RS4 "split" should be included. Enkei has similar. I started out looking at 9 spoke #1, found AEZ, considered the S8 ... and now ....

    Re: What do you think?

G man -- I'm confused by your post, but maybe you meant #2 (that is more like DTM) and not the split Enkei. Anyway, I'm leaning toward #2 (AEZ) but it's a used set, I'm presumaby checking it out tomorrow. I think they were option on S4 in bygone years? Not sure. But I like the lip effect and don't see 'em around. Kind of like a curvier DTM and with lip. Don't know if I have to factor in reconditioning or not. Probably do, so Hartmann is cheaper.

    I know, I won't forget to drop.

    Re: What do you think?

I meant you can go wrong with the RS4 DTM (1st pic, the ones I have) or the RS6 Reps from hartmann (not pictured here), which IMO will always be th best and cleanest choice for the C5.

    Re: What do you think?

DONE DEAL -- no looking back (though S8's were sweet, can't go wrong with the 9 spoke DTM....).

#2 = AEZ Radons - 18x8.5xET32, now in my garage. Good price for set of 5 (used), very good condition. On to tires and the oft recommended drop in suspension!

I'm guessing that I'll get max of drop ranges advertised (H&R or Eibach) since my "stock" set-up is starting out at such a high level (practically like a jeep now).
    ---------------------
    Update:
Following warnings on camber, harsh H&R ride I've decided on Eibach pro-kit (less drop than H&R, only slightly below sport OEM) and the proven performance of Bilstein sport shocks; new bushings on top. No more all-terrain-look on my A6. And General Exclaim UHP rubber (235/40). These tires are the best buy around, seemingly a bit of a secret since so many spend so much more for less.

Car now in shop -- new look pix to follow later this week. I used to have camera with me on vacations, take photos of kids. Now I'll bring camera on vacation to Adirondacks and take photos of my car. You guys have done this to me! It's progressive, I'm powerless over modding and my life has become ....
