    heavy vibration problem issue

My 00 s4 just had a bunch of stuff done to it and now I have some kind of vibration issue. For one I installed a suspension, new wheels tires ( b6 s4 wheels and asx tires), rear diff mount bushings, and power ring. I also installed new axles. I am getting a shuttering through teh chassis which is quite pronounced which is why I dont believe it to be the rear diff bushings. Its shaking the area around my leg. rebalanced the wheels and that helped a bit but its still doing it. My wheels dont seem to be out of round. Its really shaking quite a bit and even my steering wheel is jittering. Could it be motor mounts or trans mounts? those have not been changed yet. My control arms seem fine, wheels balanced, freshly aligned, nice tread on tires, could the driveshaft not been installed correctly when my rear diff seals were replaced? Like could he have not marked the diff flange and driveshaft and now its causing such a pronounced vibration mostly the front chassis area? WOuld that need to be rebalanced. I also installed a dts with the poly mount from energy suspension. Would that cause such a vibration addition? I am gonna try removing the mount and see if that fixes it. Thats the only thing I havent tried yet. If anyone knows please help. Maybe the dts magnified the issue with a torn or crappy motor or trans mount I wasnt aware of before? Sorry for the lengthy description just want to be thorough.

Did you go from 17's to 18's? When I did this, the heavier 18's exposed blown tie rod ends that the stock 17's masked pretty well. I know you said you got it aligned, but it could have been missed, depending on who done it. Why not get the car up on all fours and give the wheels a good side to side shake?

    Re: heavy vibration problem issue

not likely an issue with the drivetrain behind the tranny. since you are feeling it in the wheel i would concentrate on the front axles, and steering members. Is the vibration speed dependant? I would look at the axles first, then tie rods/control arms. I had a bad driveshaft, driveshaft bearing, and rear diff and never felt a thing in the wheel. motor and tranny mounts can be visually inspected easily. (from under the car of course)
I have heard of people getting "out of balance" axles from certain places. good luck!

    Re: heavy vibration problem issue

If its speed dependant then i would check the driveshaft since youve already had the wheels balanced. If it was an axle then the vibration would only come from one corner of the car and it would be easy to tell what the problem was. I just had to replace my driveshaft because of a siezed cv. The whole car would shake pretty badly at 20mph. Alot of people only have shaking at highway speeds though. Good luck figuring it out.

    Re: heavy vibration problem issue

thanks a lot for all of your help I will check it out asap. The axles were from purms so I guess that would be my last thing to check since that would be a pain in the ass. The b6 wheels issues is what i want to try first along with the tie rod ends as I have new ones waiting if I need them. I am running an 8mm spacer from eibach for the fronts with the b6 s4 wheels. I dont think the wheel sits on the hub. Would this matter? Is the hub size different? I had a forum member email and tell me to try hubcentric wheel spacers but I guess they would have to have a lip. id like to verify the hub sizing both stock and for the b6 wheels if anyone knows them. Would the H&R spacers have a lip on them already or since they are both so small would they not? Some other symptoms to note. My shifter shakes along with the steering wheel and vibrations I feel at my feet when driving. The passenger feels it also. It happens at about 50 mph and above with small points of more or less vibration as you get higher.

Did this ever get figured out? I have the same issue...car feels like it wobbles at speeds under 20mph, then rides smooth till around 70mph and then shakes like hell...my seat, steering wheel and shifter shake pretty bad.
