Angry I can't turn right without looking like an A-hole!!

Okay, it's been a long day but I'd like some answers. I've been having this strange problem with my turn signals. It doesn't do this all the time but one day I got in it and it did this all the way home until suddenly it just stopped. So what it does is that if you push up to signal a right turn the right signal blinks once and then the left one starts blinking and stays on until it just turns itself off with the lever still in the up position. Then as you go around the corner sometimes it will flash in whatever direction it feels like and then when the lever moves back to the middle position the other turn signal goes off 3-times (like the passing function) So this has pretty much been driving me mad because it hasn't done it too often.

but on Tuesday I was driving home and it did it all the way! So I figured it's finally done for, well I call my audi dealer and they say to bring it in and as I am driving up there it just starts working again, and it's been there since and hasn't acted up on them, so they won't do any work under the CPO warranty, which I understand because the parts are expensive.

So anyways, has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to get it to do it every time? and in general WTF is wrong with this thing? I hate driving around confusing everyone behind me!

I'd like to know what causes this also. My mom's A6 does the same thing with both turn signals.

Really they should keep your car until it acts up. That's a safety issue.

it is the stock hands down! our Benz used to do something similar, but instead it would turn the headlights off every time u turned on the signals.

vw/audi has had many problems with their hazard switch, my golf was even part of one of their recalls...

The tech said that it would be either the hazard relay, or the stalk. The only thing that I have noticed beside this stupid behaviour is that my stalk is very brittle feeling and kinda snaps into it's positions unlike our other Audis where when you move it it feels smooth and with less resistance (but then again those are newish cars). I am picking it up tomorrow and will drive it next week to see if it comes back with a vengeance (hopefully so I can get it fixed) Signaling is for the most part optional in North Carolina anyways...

Sounds like a stalk problem. Activating the passing function for the other side when the stalk returns to the middle position means it's activating it by going beyond the 'middle' position. Worn out or dirty maybe? This happens to me too from time to time.

LOL truth. You'd think that'd be different with all the relocated yankees living down here though...

GL with getting it fixed, atleast it sounds like you've got the issue nailed down. now it's just about timing.
