Drag racing suspension set up ?'s

For an AWD S4, what have any of you set your adj. coilovers at setting wise for the best weight transfer? I know for FWD you need to have a soft front setting and a stiff rear set up. For RWD it's the opposite. What settings do you utilize for an AWD launch?

Re: Drag racing suspension set up ?'s

On top of my first question, here's another one. A while ago a hardcore racer told me that the axles should be parallel to the ground to prevent additional torsional stress on the axles.
For example, on a FWD car say an A4 1.8T, if the suspension is too low the center of the axles are actually slanted downward to meet the transmission. How does this affect anything? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cool. Thanks. What do you or anyone else know about rear squatting? Should I set the coil overs to full soft, medium or full stiff?

I would imagine, and I'm certainly no expert, but given the stock power distribution is about 60/40, you'd want something in between the FWD and RWD setup. Favoring more towards a FWD setup since that's where the slight majority of power is going. Makes sense in my mind at least.

Re: Drag racing suspension set up ?'s

I dont know what the adjustability is on your co's, but if you can adjust bound and rebound seperately i would suggest setting the bound on the rears to almost full stiff and rebound on a medium to soft setting. On the fronts i would set the bound to medium and the rebound to medium to stiff. Your going to have to fine tune it, but this is a good start for an awd car. To really make a difference youll have to change spring rates though, as adjusting the struts will only do so much.

As far as the axles are concerned, your friend is correct. The only real reason for doing this is preventing lift and constant axle breaking. If the cv is at an angle when you launch the torque applied to it will make the joint want to straighten out, this will lead to the suspension extending or an axle breaking. This isnt as big of a deal on an awd car though. Preloading the drivetrain while staging will help keep this from happening, but it takes some practice to perfect.
