i am planning to watch the next autox event at golden gate fields this sunday to get a feel for the event. hopefully i'll actually drive the course the event after. anyone else going? maybe have a mini meet?

I was there late and it looked like the last RG. I guess it was either low turn out or the day must have moved really fast. I talked to Edison for a minute since he was the only familiar face I saw out there.

Its official... BMW and their collision shop have pissed me off! They couldnt release my car yesterday because it wasnt detailed!!! WT Flying F!!! Damn lint lickers!

Benny, I will be getting my old rims and tired back. The tires that smacked the curb have a small bubble on the sidewall. Dont know how safe that is or how it will effect performance though but im putting them back on.

Jay, sorry wont be able to give you a ride but like everyone here said, just bring your helmet and jump on in. Everyone is cool out there so no worries.

Glad you made it out and registered to run My car is done and I pick it up today . Final race isnt till Nov. for round 16 then onto Slush which for Audis is always fun

It's good to see more Audi's out there. Jay/ClayFighter/Jon, you should get some rides with some of us. It's a different perspective when you're trying to balance the car though slippery turns. We used that day to test out Hoosiers with our current suspension set up. It seems like we need to make some suspension changes to get the most of the Hoosiers. It seems like our over-steer set up for Kumho's provides a little understeer in Hoosiers. So, back to more testing next weekend with AAS.

The best run I got was a clean 38.6xx (not bad for 140ish whp). Ken had awesome runs getting down into the 37's. Benny beat out his brother (Jon) and dropped Jon's chances for the Pro Auto Body/Race for Paint championship. He should've hit a cone after he tripped the lights to give him a chance (where was team orders?).

Oh yeah, sorry for super long work groups. With the low turn out for some of the run groups, we had to combine them. Most of the problems was confusion on how the card system works. It took time for the motorhome workers to get into the rhythm. After that, it went fast.

jon jay, sup, i saw both cars. didn't know about the DNFs, but just look around before you run, most anyone is more than willing to go on a ride along with you and give you tips. hope to see you guys out there again.

this course was really all about just driving it smooth and not over driving it. overdriving it, and you were in the gravel, and spinning tires.

By the time I got there (2pm?) everything seemed to be running smoothly with only an occasional driver missing a card. Drivers were getting 4 passes - is that normal?

I had my helmet with me but getting there so late made it difficult to socialize with anyone. I did get a chance to walk the course and I specated from different spots around the track.

normal is 3 runs. but more often than not, we get fun runs at the end of the day. (during the summer months)

Nice to see you rep'ing the Audis there yesterday. As for me and the TT, we didn't do a good job so my runs went from 39.1, 38.8, 41, 45 plus many cones because the TT was dying. But it was still fun to AutoX anyway and I know I won't blow anything up despite running on limp and 3 cylinders

Hope to see you at the last regular event (round 16) in September. I might be sporting my Mazda after this season since the TT is very temperamental to keep in top shape. It's fast when it's working right

By the way, anyone hitting up the even this Saturday? Its the AAS Round 11 event in Alameda. I hope I can meet up with fellow Audizine folks and ride with some of the experienced drivers.

Yeah that's me, good eye! I was standing next to the grid when one of the TT drivers let someone ride along after getting a helmet.

I was thoroughly impressed with the variety of cars and skill levels. That dude running the old Ford Taurus... awesome! Seems like a good crowd.

Time permitting I'll try to attend as many events as possible going forward. Hope to meet some of you guys soon.

Dang Ken,

you first take it out with ESP on, and you still got a good time. Then as the TT was dying each run, your times were getting faster. I can't imagine what you would have done if the car was running right. Maybe TTOD

as for the final SCCA champ event of the year, I'll be the course designer. it'll be fast, with slaloms, and kinks. basically a great course for a well handling front/awd car : ) the kinks might me interesting for the tail happy rwd cars. oh yeah, and a nice big sweeper : )

I also missed the AAS race over the weekend. I rotated my tires and all of a sudden it started pulling hard right on the freeway. Either the tires or I need to re-seat a spring???

You missed a great event and a fast course! I challenged Ken to hit 56’s with his S2K since a lot of the big guns were running 58’s, and only a handful of really fast Vettes touch 55 and 56. He did it! Cliff and I got 57.2, 57.6 with our misfiring, limping TT - I wasn’t planning to run, but his old school sprung a water leak on our first run, so we swapped to the TT in a jiffy.

haha that was a really fun course.... i havent autocrossed the S2000 in about a year, first time out in a long time and i was happy how i did... 56.4 was my best scratch time was beating the viper until his last run at 55.0

i love AAS courses.... cant wait to go back to Alameda again.
