hey guys i need some help, im probably gonna pick up some rims on saturday, just wanted an opinion from everyone before i do so, im at work now so i dont have a lot of time to post pics, so just wondering if chrome 18" bbs replica(almost idemtical to RC's and LM's) will look good on a Gun Metal Grey B6 wagon, or should i do another color because its gonna be too much light colors. I also have the Rs4 chrome mirrors, so i thought chrome rims would go with those
    thanks

    Re: Chrome or not?

bringing this one back from the dead...for a new take on the thought "TO CHROME OR NOT TO CHROME" when it comes to wheels

Should there be a few guidelines that we could establish as a group of avant owners for chrome wheels???

    Like...maybe
    Guideline #1
    Chrome works on avants (sometimes)

    Guideline #2
In order for said chrome to work, car must be dropped

    Guideline #3
Chrome wheels must be tended to appropriately (cleaned/waxed/polished)

    Guideline #????

Please feel free to add or amend!

    Re: Chrome or not?

^^^so would you like to name that #4 or do you need to go through some of the avant threads on here and see how many peeps are actually rolling with chrome?
I suppose I wouldn't put chrome on an allroad either.

    Re: Chrome or not?

so definitely seeing more chrome in the Eurowagons thread than the sick avant thread...but I dig that euro look with polished wheels! Is it because we're more environmentally conscious here in the states...or are US avant owners scared of the bling factor associated with Chrome??? Genuinely interested.

    Re: Chrome or not?

Guideline #4: hyper silver almost always looks better than chrome.

Guideline #5: If your rails and window trim are chrome then it might look OK.

I have seen very few cars pull the chrome look off well. If you go chrome you had better have stretched and poked wheels with a slammed car so you can pull off the euro look. Without, you just look like an idiot.

    Re: Chrome or not?

Personally don't think full chrome belongs on any German car. Maybe polished, but hypersilver is the way to go to match the rails. Lips are cool in most cases, though with less universal appeal.
